NBA reset to 2001 in 2k21. What if… Shaq never leaves the Lakers, Jordan has one last dance, Yao & D-Rose are never crippled by injuries, Nash & Dirk stayed together, Kwame isn't a bust? Posted: 01 Feb 2021 09:31 AM PST | Setup I have reset the NBA to 2001 in 2k21, 20 years in the past with complete rosters, contracts, coaches, logos, kits etc to re-simulate and see where the league would end up. I set it a couple years before the big 2003 draft to shake the league up a bit, see what happens if Lebron doesn't go to Cavs, see what happens to Shaq & Kobe, see the last days of MJ Plan is to go back up to 2020 and see where 2k takes me. First thing is to shout out people who created the roster (Heim_T) and the old kits & arenas (travis9545) - You guys da real MVP I love how the old kits and courts look, when jumping into games it's always a burst of nostalgia I tweaked the roster quite a bit, it is searchable in PS4 as "2001-02 JRS" and the league save scenario as "2001 - 2002 Rosters, logos, kits," (Imaginative name I know) Sliders set to encourage trading (always threadbare in 2k) & encourage teams to re-sign more aggressively (much less player power and movement in 2000s than now) Also adjusted so teams likely to play more mid-range & post games and less 3s - again reflective of basketball at the time. First year, 2001-02 Shaq & Kobe with the Lakers on quest for 3-peat. Apart from the Bulls (twice) this hasn't been done since the 60s, unless you have MJ this is near impossible. Kwame Brown, Tony Parker & Pau headline the rookie class Looking to challenge Lakers in the West are the Timberwolves who have prime KG with Chauncey, Spurs a pre-prime Timmy with a very old David Robinson, Kings have one of the most well rounded teams with C-Webb, Peja, Vlade & Bibby, Mavs with young Dirk & Nash along with Finley & Nick the Quick could pose serious questions. AI needs help in Philly, shallow supporting cast make it tough to envision another run to Final. Jazz are on last last legs with Stockton & Malone & their heavy contracts weighing down the team. In the possibly less competitive East we have the Nets with Kidd on last year of his contract looking to challenge, Pacers like Kings are well rounded with Jermaine O'Neal, Jalen Rose and an old but still useful Reggie, Magic have the best duo not called Shaq & Kobe in T-Mac & Grant Hill plus old/experienced pieces around them in Horace Grant & Ewing. Bucks have some scoring fire power with Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson & Michael Redd Round-up of other teams: Wizards - old MJ with no supporting cast, Knicks - Allan Houston will shoot a million 3s, Bulls - young & future looking, Cavs - can they stay bad enough for two years to get Lebron? Hawks - Jet & pieces, Heat - old-ish Alonzo & few scorers and will float around 8th at best, Toronto - Vince needs help, Hornets - Baron Davis underrated, can he drag them to playoffs? Rockets have scorers but not much else, Denver - need a lot, Sun - Starbury & Matrix make them fun to watch but no frontcourt - need to draft well in future, Clippers - well rounded team but expect a playoff push at best, Portland - Papa Sabonis, Wallace & Shawn Kemp who isn't fat this time around so hopes for playoff berth, Boston need pieces around a young Paul Pierce to really challenge these teams 2001-02 Regular Season - Lakers top the West 65-17 & perhaps surprisingly Pacers top the East 62-20
- Shaq has one of the greatest statistical seasons since Wilt: 30.9 ppg & 18.5 rpg. Shooting 64% from field & career best 63% FTs. On top of this he averages a mammoth 4 blocks per game. In summary Shaq owns the paint on offense & defense. MVP & DPOY same year emulating another great big man in Hakeem
- Spurs very surprisingly miss the playoffs, but with first year Parker running the point & euro-stash Manu on the way the future looks bright
- Kwame still has an awful season with sub .300 from the field, even in alternate reality worlds he will forever be a bust
- Pau is best player for Grizzlies with 20 & 10 averages but it's Gilbert Arenas who picks up ROY with 22.3ppg. What were the scouts doing in 2001 letting him slip to second round of draft?

- First Round - Only "shock" is Wizards beating AI's 76ers, a disappointing season compared to their '01 run. MJ rolling back the clock in an epic show down against AI. A time warp of 90s v 00s
- Net's who made the finals IRL get summarily swept by Pacers who are looking ominous
- Second round - Kings dumped out by T'Wolves, no ref controversy v Lakers this time
- MJ's Wizards take Orlando to only game 7 but come up short against T-Mac & Grant Hill
- Conference Finals dominated by both 1 seeds. A disappointing end for T-Wolves after a promising season
- Shaq averaging 32 & 18 through playoffs, MVP showing out
2001-02 Finals - Pacers beat the Lakers 4-2 in a huge upset, 36 yr old Reggie Miller rolls back the clock for some clutch 3s in games 3 & 5 to get the ring he never managed
- A playoffs that largely disappointed was saved by an incredible finals, all games close going into final 2 minutes ending with the biggest NBA Finals upset of all time
- Shaq cannot sustain regular season performance and despite ridiculous numbers he succumbs to double & triple teams in clutch moments
- Jermaine O'Neal wins FMVP with solid performance all round, but this could go to any Pacer - a real team performance over the Lakers big two
- Lakers left scratching their heads on what to do after an almighty season ends in disappointment
2002 Draft - Despite 4% odds & 7 teams with worse records the Suns snag the top pick
- Pacers rip the beating heart out of the team just weeks after winning it all, trading Reggie Miller to the Suns for the #1 pick
- Everyone expects Suns take Yao to fill their weakest position - Center, setting up for the future while still being able to compete in 2002-03 season.
- But no. They take John Salmons.
- Grizz trade well to jump up , adding Boozer (3rd) & Yao (6th) to Pau - a congested but promising front court. But giving up White Chocolate for Yao pick leaves them weak in back court. Who's going to get the ball to Yao & Pau?
- Amar'e goes to Cavs to pair with Big Z - will he prove too good for Cavs and hamper chances of picking up a kid from Akron?
- Otherwise a forgettable draft, trade to move old Payton out of Seattle to San Antonio for fresh blood - Sonics in full re-build. Payton ring chasing again?
2002 Off Season - Stockton & Malone don't retire and drag the Jazz down with massive contracts for 40 (yes 40) year-old men. Stockton making his steals & assist totals even more impossible to top
- Patrick Ewing from Orlando & Hakeem from Toronto retire and head to HOF (who remembered they ended up their?)
- Jason Kidd in a shocking move leaves the Nets to sign for 3 years with the Lakers, they now have 3 of the top 6 rated players in the league - a big reaction to losing in the finals and maybe a death knell for the rest of the league?
- MJ leaves the Wizards for the Timberwolves, forming a big three of their own with Chauncey & KG - can an aging MJ challenge the Lakers juggernaut? Is this his last dance?
- Spurs sign Rip Hamilton in what looks like a shrewd move but with Manu Ginóbili's stock rising they can't match the offers flooding in around the league with a cap full of Rip, Timmy & 40 year old David Robinson they have to waive him.
- Rockets pick up 26 year old Rookie Manu to pair with Steve Francis in the back court. How will Manu fair basically having his own team and starting?
- Sheed goes to 76ers - a foil for AI finally
- A particularly clever move sees the Mavs pick up Ben Wallace. The Mavs now have the frontcourt defense Dirk lacks. Mavs don't need scorers - they need defense. A year or two away from challenging? If Nash stays…
Looking forward… - Heading into 2002-03, Lakers, Magic, Timberwolves, Pacers & Warriors look most likely to compete for the title
- Did the Pacers make one of the worst trades and sabotage team chemistry for the future? Will they regret not taking Yao & dumping franchise legend Reggie Miller?
- Can the promising duos Grant Hill & T-Mac of the Magic and Dirk & Nash of the Mavs take them over the top?
- No guns in 2k so Agent Zero has just Ball on his mind. In his second year can he take a well rounded Warriors to the Finals?
- KG has just one year left on his contract & MJ signed for just one year, will this big 3 soar or flop?
- Can anyone stop Kidd, Shaq & Kobe? Or will team chemistry shatter this super team? Shaq can leave in 2003 off season and will Fro-be be OK with 3rd fiddle?
- The impending 2003 draft looms over the lottery bound teams - who can tank the hardest? Who can snag anyone of 4 future franchise stars…

Next Gen 2K21 Shooting Tips From A Dedicated Sharp Shooter (LONG POST) Posted: 01 Feb 2021 06:18 PM PST | Context for "Dedicated Sharp" Similar play style each 2K (Three 3 Pointers, Mid Range, Perimeter Defense & I also made a build with 30 Shooting badges in 2K20) Analytics: 3FG% 71% |Mid Range 60 % | Paint FG% 80% The video below was condensed for Reddit so the sections aren't seamless. Full video [here](https://youtu.be/8sF_9x0K9pQ )if you're interested. Key points of the condensed video: Attributes, Shooting Locations, & Badge impact on moving shots. Key things not mentioned in the video. Types of Shots & Custom Jumpshots/Bases Types of Shots & Other Animations Standstill/Catch & Shoot Pull-ups/Off the dribble/Fades (Moving Shots) Post Fades Hop Jumpers Spin Jumpers Free Throws* I'd recommend learning how to make all of these shots, but you definitely should learn the ones that will be useful for your build, play style, badges, & attributes. Here are a couple examples of incompatible attributes & badges. 1: Post Fades/Fade Ace with 25 strength. You simply cannot back down opponents consistently to fully utilize post fade-aways. 2: Difficult Shots with Spot Up shooters. If you only shoot 3's & more specifically 3's in the corner Difficult Shots has offers no value for your play styles. You have to learn how to trigger these shot animations as well. Holding Turbo, Ball hand, Direction, Location, Posting Up will determine what shot you take. Other factors that will affect your shot/animations are: Remaining time on the shot clock & Defense Shot Contest Shot Clock Heave Defense shot contest animation, you'll typically miss these, Here's some other types of release animations. Out of Range Release Celebratory Release Your build it out of it's effective range. These are shots you shouldn't take Celebratory \"Perfect\" Release Animation. (Guaranteed Make) ##Custom Jumpshots/Bases My Jump Shot Unfortunately with 2K attributes, badges, & timing aren't the only factors of success for shooting. The base of your jumper is *pivotal* as well. Some bases are objectively way better than others. So if you're still struggling with shooting use a community jumper. Base 98, Curry, & Rudy Gay are the rage apparently. Finally when it comes to timing there are different speeds or zones on the court, so you'll have adjust based on your position/distance when shooting. (Thanks u/nba2ktutes) That's all I got when it comes to shooting on next gen. Another useful tip is to practice the types of shots you actually take in games & to take good open shots. Team chemistry is dumb Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:22 PM PST My team chemistry hovers around 70 and has all season. It goes from 71 to 73. It won't go any night tho, I average 18 assists a game. We win all the time, and we're about to win a championship. But it refused to go up for some reasons. Why is that. And what are the numbers on how much % assists are worth and all the other stuff I can't find those numbers anywhere. All I have found is that people say to get assists, BUT I FUCKING DO WHY IS IT BROKEN submitted by /u/dangerdude08 [link] [comments] |

Is the CPU AMAZING now for anyone else? Posted: 01 Feb 2021 07:57 PM PST I'm in a MyLeague online with some friends. Some of the guys in the league aren't great so we put the CPU at All Star. Against the computer on All-Star I usually cruise to a 40 pt win without trying. And I've just lost my last two games. Computer shot 85% and 80%. Locked down every one of my players. It's nuts. Anyone know what this could be? I thought only Admin had access to game sliders. Could it have been the last patch? I can't lose in the playoffs to the computer please help lol submitted by /u/woodcomedy [link] [comments] |

MyCareer is broken for me. 30 PPG team can't win a game Posted: 01 Feb 2021 09:39 PM PST Is this a bug? Am I missing something? I've been playing this game for like a decade and never had trouble like this. Here's how my MyCareer games go (Heat SG 82) - CPU hits almost every shot when I'm in the game
- I scratch and claw to keep it close, sometimes have a lead
- I sit for 2 mins, when I come in, we're down by 15 points. Every. Single. Time.
- I claw us back to down 4-5. Sit. Come in - down 20.
Guys, this is not fun. Like not even a little bit. I score about 30 PPG with an A teammate score. My team cannot play defense. The CPU consistently hits 60+ percent from the floor and will go on a run hitting 6-7 threes in a row - constantly. If they miss a shot, they get the rebound. Every game, regardless of opponent, is a complete and total mismatch. Teams don't shoot 60% from the floor in the NBA. And OK if it's more of an arcade style. But my team, the Heat, hits in the 30s and low 40s% frequently. Jimmy Butler is awful. Bam too. I was on the Wizards, and Wall and Beal combined one game to go 0-13 from the floor. Am I missing something I should be doing to make my All-Star teammates not go 0-10 in a game? submitted by /u/bamagrad03 [link] [comments] |

How to stop 2K21 from crashing before a park game on Stadia Posted: 01 Feb 2021 08:33 PM PST Until the devs decide to do something about this burning pile of garbage that is 2k21, here's a trick that I've found to stop a park match from crashing. This only works for a freshly started game so after finishing a park match, I recommend to restart immediately (as the game won't let you play more than 2 matches in a row lol). To prevent a crash before a match starts, just don't move the camera the moment a match is starting! You may have to move your character if you've been waiting for a long time prior to a match starting but this trick seems to have prevented any crashes before matches for me. Hope that helps people while we pray for a fix. submitted by /u/OrganicCannabis [link] [comments] |
