This game has been getting pretty stale for me lately, so I turned my player into Michael Jordan and tried to emulate his playstyle to keep it fresh. Here's a little montage I cooked up

How do u change ur takeover for created player

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 04:17 AM PST

I've recently created a player on 2k21 current gen. 99 ovr for everything, crazy dunk packages u know what I mean. But the annoying thing is, 2k gives my sharpshooting takeover only, which is really annoying when I actually want to get ankles and contact dunks.

Overall, does anyone know how to change the takeover for created player on 2k21 current gen?

When you spam X/A while inbounding the ball

2k needs to add the 18-19 Celtics as a historic team. They were just a weird mess of players that did not work in real life, but were killer in 2k

Since people liked the idea of a simpler builder, I made one. You can adjust your height, weight, WS, assign your 1200 attributes, and view your badge count and selection. Link in the comments.

The shot meter is broken - Neighborhood

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 04:35 AM PST

    Hey fellas,

I'm kinda new to the 2k. One thing is driving me crazy: I'm a good shooter in my career games, number 1 in NBA in 3pt. But when I come to the park games, I can barely make a 3pt shot even pretty wide open. The shot meter becomes too thin... I have my hot zones in place, HoF badges, my 3pt score is 87... I'm playing the current-gen version.

Also, in 2k21 I can see the meters of other players, and that yellow zone in the meter is too wide. Like almost a third part of the whole meter. How is it possible?

Can someone give me any advice? What am I doing wrong?

    Trophy Question Next Gen

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 05:12 AM PST

    Hey guys,

I am going for the platinum trophy on 2k next gen and only need 2 more: Geologist and 594 stars in domination.

Just curious, are they even possible yet? It seems like there are only 4 way to gain 99 stars each in domination currently? Also, is there going to be a higher card type past galaxy opal in myteam? Just wondering if it is even possible right now, I am real close and when I looked in game it didn't seem like anyone has gotten these trophies yet lol. Will I be in for a world of hurt if I keep pushing on this only to discover I can't even get these achievements yet?

    can someone explain this

to the "old heads" who played 2k14 and prior, how do you feel about green releases these days??

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:53 AM PST

as you know, once 2k introduced the "green release" shooting has been ultra inconsistent for the better part of 4 years now, have 6 patch's a year just solely to "fix" shooting.

shooting has been completely and utterly imbalanced to the point i think they need to just hit the reset button, and start over, or if they haveeee to have a green release window, they need to make it larger than .5MS, because the 40 percent dropoff between greening, and taking a wide open shot and missing the window by .1MS, is extremely large for a small error in comparison

dudes on next gen are able to fade from the damn logo, and left right you to death, and unless your contest was red level, they don't care, they green it in your eye. that's not basketball man.

2k need to re label itself as an arcade basketball game at this point tbh. sim went out the online window 6 years ago

and yes, i shot above 55 percent in the park, just curious how others who remember a time when timing wasn't the end all be all, and "full white" when wide open was the best shot you could get.

Rise Up Badge, is it necessary for a big?

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 09:56 PM PST

Finally came around and made a big man on PS5. The rise up badge, is it good, is it necessary, does it even work?

Once I put it on I find myplayer isn't dunking as often as he once was without it. I have 95 standing dunk, posterizer on HOF, and Rise Up on gold. Now when I take it off it's the same as if it was on. He goes up very slow, and almost never contact standing dunks. Did I just break myplayer by equipping this badge and not know it was broken? Strength is 70 and Vert is 86. I'm 6'10.

Let me know what badges work best for your big man, and are they on gold or HOF.

    Thanks in advance.

NBA2k builds and best way to get VC (Im a Noob)

    Posted: 01 Feb 2021 03:27 AM PST

I'm quite new at the game and have been playing for about a week and was wondering what the best build for a pf who is good at 3 pointers and can def to get rebounds both defensive and offensive? But I know that the build won't be the best off the start and want to be able to get enough VC to get it off the ground but without buying too much VC so any idea what I Should go into to get more VC or anything I can boost VC? Cheers in advance.

Game Mechanics Checkpoint (attributes, jump shot, other settings) 2K21 Current Gen

    Posted: 31 Jan 2021 03:17 PM PST

Yo! I've encountered lots of info about key things to consider when building players for MyCareer and how to do well online in general. Some of what I've read seems like hearsay (or might be based on 2K20), some things are contradicted by other comments, and some things seem to be legit.

Which of the following attribute / jump-shot mechanics notes are accurate?

You need an 86+ ball-handle for speed boost

    • There is a significant boost in make % when you get your 3pt to an 86
    • Purchased boosts (e.g. jump shot boost) don't give you a +5 attribute boost to mid/3-pt
      • I've seen comments that it's a % boost, but I don't understand this. Any input here would be lovely. If I have a player that's 77 for 3-pt, what should I expect?
    • Is it true that you get +5 to every attribute when you make it to 99? I haven't played 2K in years, and I never got too deep anyway, so forgive me for not 99 yet to confirm this.
    • The spot-up shooter badge gives you +10 attribute points to mid-range and 3-pt shooting
    • You don't need to waste a badge on getting Flexible Release to HoF — gold is the sweet spot. The diff between the two is negligible.
    • Setting Catch & Shoot to silver is a good boost, and maybe a way to save some badge points. Maybe Range Extender and Corner Specialist, too?
    • Your jump shot release choices in the jump shot creator don't actually affect make %, earliest green window, green window size, etc. — basically the only things that matter are your base jumpshot and your release speed.
      • This doesn't seem right, but I believe this info comes from 2klab. Not sure.
    • Some of the best jump shot bases for current gen are: 38, 62, 70, 86, 98, 104, Exum, Curry, Wade, Chriss, Parker, Burke, Gay, etc.
      • I currently use a 38 base, plus a 50/50 mix of Exum and Rudy Gay for the releases, at 3/4 speed. Some have said base 38's been nerfed—is that true? My shot isn't amazing, so I'm hoping for some good feedback here.
      • I don't understand the difference between the lower and upper release animations, including the animation blending. Is it all aesthetic? If not, what should people consider?
      • What jump shot animation do you use?
    • Turning off the shot-meter gives you a modest boost to your shot.
      • I currently have mine off and I prefer it, but mostly because I don't trust the timing of the shot-meter graphic when playing online.
    • The best setting for shooting is Shot-Stick Aiming (if you can get used to it)

If you can help confirm, debunk, or clarify something here, I appreciate you.

I'll add that if you have some key considerations when it comes to defense (e.g. how much does the steal attribute matter?) and finishing (e.g. how much does height matter for contact dunks?), I'd love to hear them—I'm playing a Midrange Playmaker, with limited badges in both defense and finishing, so I've focused on other things.

Cheers yawl and good luck out there 🍻
