Posted: 08 Sep 2020 01:03 AM PDT I'm posting this as a person that has bought 2k every year. For context, I don't play online. I've always liked myteam (single player modes) and mygm. I used to really like mycareer but honestly they've made it so grindy that it's been ruined. Seems like all they want is for you to get frustrated and buy vc. The new shooting mechanics are terrible. You get all these people saying "get badges" - man I don't play that mode. People saying "get practice" I played it all weekend and it just isn't happening. It has honestly ruined the experience. I get all you people saying that Park needed to be improved, I get it. Most of you can't agree if they got it right or not, but man, for the people who just want to play some 2k after a long day at work to relax, it's ruined. Sad to say but this will be my last one. Thanks 2k for making the Draymond Green Basketball Simulator Posted: 07 Sep 2020 01:13 PM PDT After years of hashing out the same crap, 2k finally did something original and fun. I've always wondered what it's like to be able to do everything but score consistently. I can rebound, steal, pass, hell even make a block every now and again. I can't shoot, but hey, I think we were due for a change. [link] [comments]

I finally completed my rookie season Posted: 07 Sep 2020 05:11 PM PDT I got drafted by the Clippers. I played every game on 12 minute quarters. When I was able to change player minutes, I kept mine around 32-34 minutes a game. We went 76-6 (ironically, win number 74 was against GSW), including a 46 game win streak. I was Rookie of the Year, 1st team All Rookie squad, 1st team All Defense (confused), Defensive Player of the Year (even more confusing), 1st Team All NBA and League MVP. Won the Championship and got Finals MVP. For some reason, even as the 16th pick, was only on a one year contract so I was a free agent after the season. I entered free agency to see what teams wanted me (some teams only saw me as their 6th man) and decided to just resign with the Clippers. They offered 1,000, 1.0x team multiplier something (can't remember what it was called) and 38 minutes a game. I countered with 2.0x and 34 minutes, they declined. I went down to 1.5x, and they declined again. They said i was not a franchise player and never would be so i can not be a Clipper. I won every individual award you can win in a single season and I will never, ever be a franchise player. I just don't understand. *Edit: I shut the game off before signing anywhere, so when I restarted the Clippers offer was still there. I clicked on them and all I did was change the minutes to 34 and they still said I wasnt a franchise player and countered with 35 minutes and said i was their franchise player. Game makes no sense. The Aiming Mechanic was not Designed with Post Scorers in Mind Posted: 07 Sep 2020 06:10 PM PDT Incoming long read but I hate the terrible overlook that's been done. Intro: Following up 2K19, 2K has been actively trying to kill off this build. I'm aware the number of users have gone down hence why no discussion is really had regarding this. Don't mistake Post Scorer as a universal term for builds that play in the post, the build I'm talking about are the Post Scorers who utilize Post Fades, Post Hop Shots, etc.. Let me preface by saying it somewhat works offline where you have no latency, online is a different matter. The Meat & Potatoes: Now you're wondering how has it been overlooked? Let's break some of that down. Post Fades: Unlike a jumper, there's no consistency to where your "sweet spot" will be. You can't manipulate your way to moving that spot as you can with jump shot techniques. Try having to get that off aimed well with a high latency mode like Rec/Park on a consistent basis with a meter that shows up late continuously. Additionally, trying to shoot any fadeaway towards the free throw line as opposed to the baseline is immensely more difficult since they've now forced you to aim the shot. With the newly mapped stick movement, it's very easy to wind up accidentally triggering an up and under instead. A Post Fade with the shot stick in previous years would normally only be held to the center left or the right, not started at the bottom right/left. And if you don't get that up and under? It's also a stupidly long rotation adjustment needed to get the shot aimed correctly. Post Hop Shots: To trigger a Post Hop, you're required to pull the left stick away from the hoop and taping square/X. Your meter would eventually appear and you'd trigger the shot with square/X again. Attempting to get that shot off with the aim stick however? You'll have better luck of 2K not fucking up a launch than timing that correctly. You wanna know how badly 2K didn't even bother incorporating the new aiming into a Post Hop? Go look at 2KU, the demonstrate doesn't even use the shot stick and still wants you to hit the shot with square/X which we all know doesn't get rewarded worth shit now. Conclusion: 2K hasn't given a shit about shot reliant Post Scorers. They've removed badges, dumbed down badges and now implemented a mechanic that wasn't even tested in that builds' usual gameplay. The aiming mechanic has gotten a lot of flack lately and rightfully so, a sensitive timing process in high latency goes together like white vinegar and chocolate sauce. However there's a certain style that was completely neglected and it's rightfully pathetic. You want to nerf play styles? I don't agree with trying to nerf builds once they've already been created and time has been spent on them as it's not fair to the users but having it established out of the gate of a new game, fine. At least be transparent about that. As far as flat out killing builds though because nobody on a development team bothered spending time testing a newly created mechanic thoroughly though? Kindly fuck off. TL/DR: 2K didn't bother testing the new aiming mechanic for shooting Post Scorers. [link] [comments]
