    My thoughts on 2k in general

    To me, 2k has become work. There is no longer hopping on to have fun. You either have to sweat every single game to win or lose consistently. Idk about everyone else, but I work all day and would like to come home and relax. I don't have the time commitment to learn my jumpshot or learn how to use the stick. I just wish there was a casual mode in 2k.

    I miss the old 2k. 2k16 was so much fun for me. You could hop on and actually have fun for a little. Why have we moved so far from that? I get the innovation standpoint, but come on.

    Just wanted to get this off my chest. Been feeling this way since 2k20 came out.

    This is a problem that sports games have in general. I'm playing 2k20 right now after buying 2k21 a couple weeks ago, and there was absolutely no problem with the meter. (In my opinion). It was in a great place, visually looked clean and not clunky, and had a smooth feel to it. Fill the meter up perfectly, you get a green. I wish 2k would realize we don't need them to make superficial changes to the game just for the sake of making changes. No one was complaining about the meter. At all. We were complaining about the double eurostep glitch, the weird animations, and NBA players not being able to make simple passes that anyone in a LA Fitness could make. And all we want every year is updated rosters and tweaks to the game, along with minor graphic improvements and jersey/stadium updates. Please stop fixing things that aren't broken and start fixing the things that are broken. I promise you will make 10x more money as a company because we will actively fund you and be more willing to pour money into the micro transactions scam gamemodes like mycareer and myteam if it was an actual high quality Basketball simulation game. There was no reason to change the meter this year, that was the absolute least of our problems.

    Because now the developers have no choice but to remove their stupid broken right joystick aiming mechanism from this game. It was an absolute terrible idea that completely ruined shooting and it should have never have happened. Give us back the button with the old meter and we will pretend this nightmare and complete failure of a shot aiming system with right joystick 🕹 has ever happened. Thank you cheaters. You did the 2k Community a huge solid.

    MyCareer on HOF. How the infamous mode has fallen well short of its predecessors.

    Virtual Currency. That's the reason I've seen most people play MyCareer on HOF for. It's great for playing on a higher difficulty and getting better at different aspects of the game.

    Well that's how it was. 2K21 was a shift in MyCareer that felt ignored, unfinished, and frustratingly underdeveloped. Not only has MyCareer been better, the HOF mode has had way better AI teammates and opponents in previous editions. Even after 1.03 and numerous complaints from the community, again 2K looks to ignore where THEY messed up.

    Now I'm an 85 OVR SF/3-Level Scorer. I've always played as a SF on various teams in the past. Always played on HOF starting with 2K14 when watching Chris Smoove tear up teams on the difficulty. And maybe I'm terrible. Maybe I don't know half of what it means to be a good player on HOF. But even after multiple A+ ratings and tight games, that slip away as quickly as leads are built, I've never played a more frustrating mode of 2K.

    The OFFense: While I'm no point guard playshot, I do have the potential for 22 Shooting Badges with 11 Playmaking. I've maxed out my shooting ratings and now I wait for the badges after grinding. But besides all of this, shooting in MyCareer on HOF just feels impossible. Even with all the badges (Deadeye, C&S, Steady, Deep Fade, Volume, and more) shooting has not been a luxury and an inhibition of a player that I wanted to be more like KD and less like a bum. The AI closes out so much faster than previous years and even with Space Creator I've had serious trouble getting off of screens for a shot because the roller collapses. And the big always does some dumb move to not move to the basket so, you guessed it, no assist available. The teammates are garbage at such random moments of the game. Missing wide open shots, not going up for rebounds when they should be, and not running plays or any sets. Overall ratings don't seem to create difference in how much better you are than your opponent. Even if you have 8-10 rating points on your opponent, you can't blow by, can't shoot over, and cannot create post moves to create plays. Maybe I'm an isolated incident, but the AI royally screws off-ball players early in the game. Maybe when I'm 90 OVR it'll change but the gaps in gameplay are very frustrating.

    The Defense: MyCareer defense has never, and I mean it, NEVER been this bad on HOF. Blow by? Shit the CPU has got it. 100% contested shot? That CPU still making that three likes it's Game 7 of the Finals. Off Ball plays? Good luck if you can't make it to that side of the court. Leaving your guy on the perimeter to get the wide open running man to the basket? Even with two-three defenders, that CPU will throw that pass somehow to the perimeter player and it's a three EVERY TIME. Switching is still very bad and that's been a constant since 2K14. How can the devs be so hype about defense in this game when its still god awful?

    The Overlooked: As someone who has been playing since the Xbox 360 first came out, I've seen a lot of different ways 2K has claimed to be innovative or creative in how they develop their product. Every rendition has had its flaws but it's 2020. We've asked 2K to allow us to personalize playbooks. We've asked 2K to make coaching decisions more intelligent in rotations and play calls. We've asked for more control in how our player can play and fit our play-styles. And for every single asking, 2K has completely overlooked additions that would gratefully increase replay ability. MyCareer WAS my favorite mode because it evolved every year and the gameplay had some portion of it that was good. But now, when I put on MyCareer, I just don't enjoy it at all. Online is barely worth it but the community is toxic and it's off putting. MyTeam feels too pay-to-win. And in the end, it makes me question why I paid $100 for a game that is terrible? Why do I still not have all my DLC? Did 2K forget about the promo packs?

    In ending, I say this: 2K feels more like a scam now than a video game. You've got modded controllers, pay-to-win players, broken mechanics, years of unfixed material, and a toxic base. 2K is more of an MLM and it's like being a trapper. If you aren't working in an organized manner to fix the game for your group, then you're in the wrong crowd and that's a shame for 2K to allow. We not pushing rocks; just trying to get ball in the hoop.

    TLDR; MyCareer is really bad this year on HOF and why did I waste money.

    I’ve been missing easy layups after offensive rebounds so I upped putback boss to bronze. Got more second chance dunks in the first game than the last 10+ combined.
