    My two cents on 2K21

    Posted: 21 Sep 2020 10:39 AM PDT

Credentials: I play the game like most of you. I'm an NBA nut, and actually passionate about this game. Also, I waited a month to make any comments.

Best new feature: dribbling. The "idea" of directional shooting (implementation on 2Ks part sucks). The overall right joystick feels more reactive. Your AI on your team has more movement and tries to generate their own shot without me asking in my career (triple threat is horrid about this). Shot speed and player motion is more spot on than previous iterations.

    What 2K has wrong:

In short, make good defense matter and smart offense work. More below on this opinion.

In the current nba, in an era of positionless basketball, do not archetype my player. I'm not asking for a 7 foot 6er with handles of Allen Iverson, but someone might. Simply let me have my attribute points and allocate them where I'd like. Do not put a cap on any area because I play center or a point guard. Dirk could light it up from beyond the arc and Spud Webb if I'm not mistaken could find his way to the rim.

Going further on this topic, the nba now is pace and space with very little back to basket play, but if a player wants to kill it mid range and back to basket don't devalue that shot. I know, I know statistically that shot sucks. Your player is not a statistic, your my player is revolutionizing the game and revitalizing the 2 pt shot that curry devalued. You are the change.

The left joystick is sluggish. Defensively, this is a liability. If I make Tony Allen, by all that is holy, let me stick to that offensive player like peanut butter on the roof of their mouth. 30 badges in defense should slow down or shut down your most distinguished player.

If you want the rec to look like the nba vs constant rim running. I should casually be able to hit a 3-pointer with no contest if I have over 85 points invested in that shot. I should be a reliable threat if I'm over 70. The defense should still respect a three in transition. Incentivize the pass to an open player with a bucket, not a brick.

My unpopular opinion: a child with zero gaming skill should feel like they are lebron James or steph curry when they pick up the sticks... this should be the easiest setting. The casual player should be able to enjoy the park and rec. The hardcore should enjoy the pro-am.

Wishes: let me calibrate my shot. It's my memory and my hand doing the motion.... it's my shot. Let my memory set the timing and direction. At the beginning of my career let me take 10 shots in each animation and calibrate it.

Deep down, I love the NBA and the NBA 2K team. I think you guys have done an amazing job with social action and want this success to continue. Thank you all for listening to my rant, and I look forward to trying to get better.

So I finally caved in to the meta...

And made a playmaking shot creator. I've been very vocal on here about my displeasure with the state of shooting on any point guard build that isn't yellow green or pure green. I still feel there needs to be a slight buff for 70-79 three ball. Not too much but a slight one.

Now, for the playmaking shot creator i made. I played two mycareer games and got two shooting badges and hopped in the park with my friends. No boosts on either. Shot over 60 percent from 3 with silver range extender in about 10 games. It is entirely WAY too easy to shoot on this build. It was wayyyy too hard to shoot on my pure playmaker. I get that I shouldn't shoot as well, but I literally didn't even have a timetable green window to try and master.

An 85 3 ball with silver range extender should not be THAT much better than a 71 3 ball with hot zones around the perimeter, boosts, mostly shooting from the corner and wing with gold range extender and gold corner specialist. Off the catch at that too. Yes I think it should be better, but not night and day. Especially considering the nature of the shots I take. It was like I was playing a whole new game. It shouldn't be this drastic of a change.

I can’t find one aspect of this game I enjoy.

    Posted: 21 Sep 2020 10:35 AM PDT

Money hungry companies not only rebranding the same game for 4 years but progressively deteriorating any enjoyment. 2k sports should be ashamed. This game is absolutely horrible in every facet. Graphics are unimpressive the corny interviews where the mouth doesn't even align with the speech. Every time I drive I get fouled or striped yet the cpu finishes in traffic or greens garbage shots on impossible angles on any difficulty other than rookie. Waste of money waste of time. Shameful excuse for a video game. I get it now. Why people continue to play these old 2ks when new ones release. I get it now.

This pretty much sums up our offense this game...

Hardest build to grind...but it kinda pays off.

Slightly more Blue than Green Pie. 16/16/14/6 6'3 and 83.1 Wingspan

You'll get no Contacts nor Elite Dunks nor Pro Dribbles while grinding. Which really drags it. But in the end it's a nice Finishing Play...who actually CAN shoot and compete 1v1 to 5v5 i think. Still a hard grind, tho.

edit: also not for starters cause u have to maintain 98 OVR.

Rec can’t kick players fast enough

    Posted: 21 Sep 2020 06:14 PM PDT

Just had a point guard who went 2/14 (by shooting every time he touched it no matter how covered) and didn't play any defense. Why can't we get a sabotaging player out faster? It's almost impossible for them to get an F but they have to give us something to not have to endure a loss directly because of someone else. If we don't pass to him, his man will just double whoever's hot. It's frustrating.

How is this even in the game? I clearly create space from the defender and he slides across the paint to defend my layup?

Playing the Lakers in the NBA finals, game 2

Our starters had an average +- of +10.5 (playing 5min quarters) and our bench has an average of fucking -13..... wtf

Every time I came back on we'd be down 5+ after being up. I'm just playing on pro to grind badges.... Hall of Fame last year was harder to play

By introducing a "skill gap" they made it so smart basketball is not rewarded.

    Posted: 21 Sep 2020 11:51 AM PDT

It doesn't make sense to me how wide open shots are more difficult to make than fading shots. Instead of playing smart offense with ball movement and offball screens to get a open look, the game would rather us shoot ridicoulous fades.

I'm kinda new to 2k, does takeover/gatorade boost your stats over 99?

    Hey!

I was wondering, does takeover/gatorade boost your stats over 99?

    If i get a 99 3p at 99ovr and buy boosts/get takeover do i go over 99 or stay at 99?

    Cheers!
