Rant about Paint Defense, Hooks, and Hopsteps

Hopsteps are the most cancerous things I've seen in this game. In past 2Ks, the ability to do quick Hopsteps/euros/cradles/reverse was reserved for the elite finishers and I think it should be. Now everyone Hopsteps. Sharpshooters hop step. Glass locks Hopsteps. The referees are hopstepping. Hell, my grandma hopstepping and she don't even play the game. Keep it exclusive to elite slashers/finishers. Just like there's a contact threshold and speedboost threshold, there needs to be one for elite finishing abilities.

The Paint defense in this game also sucks so goddamn bad. It's crazy that you need Pogo just to defend the paint. Can't hold your hands up (which is dumb imo) and have to flick your stick so that you can contest. It's also wildly inconsistent. Sometimes you can miss due to a guy standing right next to you, other times you'll literally phase right through him and make dumb shots. People say "oh hands up doesn't mean good defense " sound goofy as hell. That logic means you're awarding the offensive player for throwing up any dumb shot.

Post Hooks are a 50/50 topic with me. I think that if they're properly contested, they shouldn't drop. Especially not on defenders 6'9+ who are getting a good contest on you. But hooks should be effective on smaller defenders. I can't sympathize with guards that want to stop bigs with a 30 interior defense, but never cry when centers can't stop them at the perimeter. Pulling the chair shouldn't work against bigs who know what they're doing.
