2K has an eSports problem and their player base deserve better Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:48 PM PDT 2k has an obvious eSport problem that I feel like is not talked about enough. Let me just quickly preface this by saying I have experience in working within eSports organisations, being a big lover of both Starcraft and DOTA, I had previously been involved in my local eSports org for 4 years. I'm by no means an expert but as a fan of 2k the game it pains me to see how pitiful our eSport scene is. The Problem For those of you unaware Tyceno recently played a 2v2 featuring Bronny James and Miles Brown. According to this tweet over 50,000 people tuned in to watch the $2000 USD wager, including Lebron James himself. This is very clearly what 2k consumers as a whole want to consume, this is engaging content that viewers watch for entertainment, for education and to engage with other like-minded 2k players (sometimes). So this brings me to the 2k eleague. The crux of the problem is: who is this for? Over the last 365 days the main nba 2k league channel averages 3.1k viewers, just Tyceno by himself averages 2.5k. An entire organisation, filled with production staff, casters, pro-players and crew barely scrapes above a single one of the game's content creators. The 2k league subreddit has a measly 1.4k subs, while this subreddit has almost 300k. It's extremely obvious that 5v5 pro-am 2k is not what their primary player base consumes. If I play Tekken and I choose to watch professional Tekken at Evo, they aren't playing Tekken Bowling, if I watch League Of Legends, they aren't playing ARAM, so then why is 2k esports revolved around a 5v5 match up, when their key player base is out in MyPark? It makes sense their enormous player base aren't tuning in, when you present them with a game they don't even relate to. This dilution of modes results in a lacklustre presentation of their esports branches. Typical eSports growth sees key community figures whether they be players, casters or other personalities, move on to help the community grow through participation in developer/publisher sanctioned events. Valve has The International blizzard has Blizzcon etc. But this isn't possible specifically with 2k, as their biggest influencers are all Park players. If I go out and buy Harry Potter merch, they aren't force feeding me Neville Longbottom gear, they leverage their most popular characters to support their ancillary product. But for some odd reason, 2k, despite being able to see their most popular and most played modes, decide that it's 5v5 pro am, with archetypes no one plays, is the way to go. The Solution 2K, you have a golden opportunity, you've squandered it up until now, embrace it and change before you sink even more resources into your dying eleague. Lebron could've been the Drake and Ninja moment for your game, but you still refuse to arm content creators with the tools they need to run their own tournaments/show matches while also refusing to step in and help facilitate. Empower your influencers to grow your brand, this is a win-win, if they have a logo above their head, allow them to run private sessions of park, arm them with the tools they need to symbiotically grow together, you are one of the best selling video game sport franchises in history, don't let it go to waste. Tl;dr: Make your eSports align with your player base, ensure content creators have the opportunity to create the content that your consumers want. [link] [comments]

Can we all agree 2K has reached the point where the devs can’t explain what happens in game? Posted: 09 Jun 2020 12:26 AM PDT Like seriously, explain why a glass cleaning lockdown can shoot consistent greens, why baseline attacks work more than they're supposed to, and why the lockdown pie chart is literally better than every other one, and can do just about everything? I'd like to start a discussion. [link] [comments]
What badges work best NOT on HoF? Posted: 08 Jun 2020 07:53 PM PDT And what is the optimal badge level for each badge that works most efficiently? I've heard that Corner Specialist is good at silver and same with intimidator badge [link] [comments]

Vote to remove people in the REC Posted: 08 Jun 2020 02:35 PM PDT I just played a game in the REC and there were two people just getting defensive and offensive 3 second violations and shooting full court shots. Surely if someones teammate grade goes below a certain point there should be an option to vote to remove [link] [comments]
