Intimidator needs to be a build restricted badge

    Posted: 27 May 2020 01:18 PM PDT

So big men can't get difficult shots, non playmakers cant get dimer or floor general, but I can make a 6'0 offensive threat pg and put gold intimidator on him. That badge should be restricted to certain builds like some of the other badges. It just doesn't make sense on small guard builds. You need to be a certain size to be an intimidating presence on the court. For next year I think it should be restricted to SF/PF/C and only guard builds with some defense in the pie chart.

    Tips for the Rec Player

    Posted: 27 May 2020 01:56 PM PDT

Rec is the type of mode that will make you love the game as well want to break your console. Theres certain lineups that wont work and I understand a lot of the time we have no control over that but with that being said There is nothing better when a group of 5 find the synergy. So here is a list of things that can help the Rec player and the teammates have an enjoyable experience:

    - Know your role and know your players capabilities - Not everyone is a dunker. Not everyone is a PG. Not everyone is a shooter. If you are new, chucking up shots is not the way to improve.

    - Know your role on the fast break.- If you are first down then sure get to rim, but if you are a shooter you need to cut to a corner so it can free up the lane. The point is to create the mismatch of numbers and you cant do that if everyone is just in an all out sprint to the bucket. A good teammate sees the floor and will get you the ball.

    - Share the ball - Icons can be your best friend, especially if you want to pass it across court or to the opposite corner. This includes hitting the farthest man down the court (assuming he is also playing defense, just leaking). Look for swing opportunities. Lot of people wanna do something with the ball when all they need to do was touch pass it to the post or swing it

    - Play defense and stay with your man - The best way to receive the ball on offense is to show you want it on defense. Good players see that and want to reward that person. Dont go off and do some wild stuff. That creates chaos as the other 4 people are trying to make up for your unexpected gamble.

    - Space the floor in the halfcourt offense- This might be the biggest issue. There is a reason good teams run the same offensive set. Its extremely hard to defend the shot/drive/kick with good spacing. Im not saying just sit there all game however its important to understand that when you move, the whole offense has to move to create the space. Sometimes the corner to has is a great place to hangout. If someone is on the hash, hug the corner and widen that distance so the defender has to choose. Try and occupy the opposite. When All 4 are on one side with a guy at the top it shrinks the floor drastically. Guy at the top has a duty to keep shifting to opposite corner to create more room for the 4 guys to space

    - Two Bigs spacing in the post - Shot blockers love to show their abilities. The way to beat this is by spacing the opposite block. I see far to often one big run to the exact same block as the other big just because its play side when in reality the opposite side is the spot to get the bucket after help defense comes.

    - Setting picks at the top - This is a classic newb move. The pick n roll is basically dead with Intimidator, Interceptor and the speed of the defense. It needs to be understood that when you randomly set a screen, you are making it worse by not actually engaging a defender. The ball handler not has to dodge 6 people (3 offensive picks and 3 help defenders). If you think you are going to catch a lob or some type of finish off this set you are sorely mistaken. Please stop doing this to the team. This goes for bigs setting screens solo at the top. Concentrate on actually engaging the defender. It creates WAY more space.

    - Cutting - Its a part of basketball that can be used to great advantages, however it is the complete opposite when everyone is cutting at once. People need to yield to eachother on the cut. If someone goes then back out and try and replace where that person was or where the other person moved from to fill the cutters spot.

    - Slashing - I get it. Ive played with one. Seems like any shot going to the basket is gonna go in but its clear all 5 people like to go for the block. A simple pull back and kick out will earn the trust and I promise you'll get the opportunities for dunks

    Finally,

    - Pouting. - There are hundreds if not thousands of Rec games to be played. So you didnt get the ball, quit and find a new game. The reason you didnt get the ball is because you didnt follow any of the basic things on this list. You will be constantly stuck in this cycle of pouting. The good player will get his 20/20, rep points, and badge points without you. Are are only wasting your own time.

I know most of the people on this subreddit know this but for anyone who is new to basketball or new to 2k, try and remember these things. You will vastly improve on basketball knowledge and mechanics as well as getting your MyPlayer better. Let me know if I missed any.

    Good Luck
