    MyTEAM General Discussion & Advice - May 09, 2020

    Posted: 08 May 2020 09:06 PM PDT

    Welcome!

This is a daily thread for MyTEAM with hundreds, if not thousands, of comments every day and is the best place to ask questions pertaining to your cards or lineup. In addition, this thread is used for general discussion, price checks, and pull showoffs.

How do I ask for lineup suggestions?

Display your lineup using a site like 2KMTC or take an in-game screenshot and upload it to Imgur.

Along with the link to your lineup, include your platform (ex. XB1 or PS4), MT available to spend, and questions you have. The more information you include, the easier it is for others to help you.

A Guide for Newbies : Welcome to NBA 2K20.

    Posted: 09 May 2020 12:29 AM PDT

As the year continues more people flood in with sales and such and pick up 2K20 only to enter the game lost, confused, and making builds that don't fit their playstyle...mix that in with playing online games like its MyCareer and chucking up contested shots like mad men or crashing to the basket like Vince Carter in his prime only to get their shot sent to the stands and....you get my point people make experiences in 2K bad themselves by not taking the time to be given some nuggets of advice to get them on their feet....I'll try to help :).

Step 1 : Finding a Build that suits YOUR PLAYSTYLE.

Everyone and their aunts want to be a PG only to not be able to score efficiently or even make the proper pass to a wing player on the break or play off the pick and roll.

Positions of that caliber require some selflessness...IQ and the ability to handle the ball and shoot at will while always keeping your eyes moving for chances to make the pass to a corner shooter or a wing cutting to the basket for the oop.

Wanna be a Wing player? you have options...a Floor Spacing Slasher or maybe a Inside Out Playmaker for example to be able to hand the ball along your guard while playing off the ball and shooting off the catch while being able to get to the rim if needed.

Maybe a Forward? a Rebounding Wing or maybe a Facilitating Finisher....shooting if open in corners while being able to play defense among the best of them.

A Center? a Paint Beast for example who can mash the rim with dunks and deny plays at the rim and being a dominant presence in the paint at will.

Find what role you want to be on a team and do the necessary things to play it well....you wanna be Derek Fisher or Derrick Rose? the choice is yours but do research....learn these pie charts and figure out what you want to do on the court to accentuate the players around you and fit to what you wanna be best at on the virtual basketball floor...for the most part a lot of builds can be effective with the right person behind it.

Step 2 : Understanding the MyPlayer Builder

Yes its very overwhelming but in time it will become second nature.

There's pie charts there's stats there's badge counts its a WHOLE LOT to a new person so I'll try to make it make sense.

A pie chart will break a build down to what it does best and what it does decent.

a predominately yellow pie chart with smaller pieces means the build is going to have really good Playmaking (Ball Handling, Pass Accuracy etc) like a Slashing Playmaker with Gold Shooting and Finishing Badges.

a 2 part Pie Chart like Yellow/Red means it will be best at Playmaking/ Defense like a 2 Way Slashing Playmaker so you will have Hall of Fame Defense/Playmaking and Gold Badge Maximum for Shooting and Finishing or a Blue/Green Pie Chart like a Offensive Threat will have HOF Shooting and Finishing and Gold Playmaking/Defensive Badges.

Next is Physical Profiles that pertain to what Physicals stand out most....from Speed and Acceleration to Verical and Strength these will define if your player is fast and can jump high to being a immovable object with high Strength towards the paint as a big.

For a PG Speed kills and having a Physical Profile (Another Pie Chart) you might want to go for a Speed/Acceleration/Vertical Pie Chart so you can be fast and able to move around the court while still being able to snag an occasional board if needed due to the vertical.

Height plays a role in stats as well from Driving Dunk to Free Throw so figure out the height that will benefit your build.

Weight determines how much slower or faster your player can move and how much more or less strength they have as well....most go min weight on builds excluding some bigs.

Wingspan determines how long your players arms will be and there is positives and negatives to long and short wing spans....a lot of that comes down to what you want and what your player is good at.

a PG Playmaking Shot Creator might want shorter arms to be able to finesse off screens and get off shots faster with the added benefits that come with shorter arms (higher 3 and mid range plus higher ball handling but a hit to steal/block compared to a Perimeter Lock who wants to be in the passing lanes with longer arms and being able to block shots and high lateral quickness/perimeter defense.

Takeovers are basically your player going Super Saiyan ....you get a boost in stats pertaining to that badge.

LakerFan explains it better than me here regarding Takeovers : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_hdVLPeYoc

2 Way Slashing Playmaker Build example : https://youtu.be/DXXwPFPPjMI?t=352

Step 3 : Badges mean EVERYTHING.

I can't tell you how many times I see a 60 overall stepping into the Rec and making their experience and their teammates experience bad because they want to jump online with a certified bench warmer will no ability to make an impact of the floor...GO TO MYCAREER AND GRIND.

Along with your overall your badges mean so much in terms of being effective and playing to your builds full potential....yes MyCareer is boring but the benefits of doing it will not only help you but the people you match up with and just might make it a more seamless experience.

Play the Prelude...you will walk out of it with at least 5 badges and once you make it to the NBA play 12 Min Quarters on Pro and go to town...preferably picking a team that will make it easy to get your HOF Badges the easiest like a Lakers or the Bucks or the Clippers and max out all the deals you get from Endorsements ( 0 Incentives/0% Discount and max VC ) trust me it helps moving forward....and GO TO THE PRACTICES eventually you get to choose your own drills and sometimes you get legend practices that give more badge points so yes go to them.

Also use the Gatorade Facility....you get upgrades to Speed/Acceleration/Strength/Vertical/Stamina and eventually if you play MyCareer enough (55 Games) and win the Finals you get the Gym Rat Badge and you'll never have to do those drills again.

Post Regarding the Gym Rat Badge : https://www.reddit.com/r/NBA2k/comments/dlilf3/gym_rat_badge_requirements/

Step 3 : Online vs MyCareer

Please understand PLEASE....the way you play in MyCareer will not work in Park/Rec/Pro-Am....you're playing people with max badges....long wingspans to short ones and a whole different skill set....you will have to learn the game....dribbling/jumpshot timing/defense all of that and then some...the game is totally different and will feel overwhelming at first....its like when you learned how to ride a bike...training wheels and eventually you went without them....probably fell but you learned right?

Same thing....you green in MyCareer right and you look like MJ in his prime....you will quickly be brought back down to earth immediately.

Watch YT learn some dribble moves that are actually effective....find the jumpshot for you and get some shots up in Pro-AM NOT MYCOURT to get a little bit of the feel of shooting online and figure out your badge arrangements....get your shot down and get out there and play....it will not be perfect in the beginning but repetition is everything and in time you'll be greening up crossing folks and getting to the hoop....but it takes time.

To shoot in the Pro-Am arena create a team and you can go shoot in the arena whenever you want :).

Step 4 : Try to have fun

Yes the online experience sucks sometimes and you get ball hogging teammates one game and the next you get a fully functional team who play good basketball...add those functional people run with them it will make your experience so much funner if you do.

Enjoy it for what it is and take it in stride...as long as you feel you're doing the right things and enjoying yourself in the process as much as you can....that's all you can do but take these steps to be effective and a actual force on the court....not a spectator.

If you have any questions leave them below and thanks for reading :).

TLDR : Find your playstyle....your build....get accustom with dribbling, shooting, and defense....try to have fun and add those people you play well with....it will make the experience tolerable and enjoyable.

    Stop checking your phone.

    Posted: 08 May 2020 11:26 PM PDT

Is it just me or people that won't get in a park slot unless they check their phone is triggering. I have 65% win rate and when one guy hops in with me with a below 50% (which is fine) no one wants to hop in. Stop checking your phone and just hop in. It's a park game not proAM. This was never a problem in years before this.

    Is my game broken?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 12:58 AM PDT

I'm playing MyCareer and am playing the Thunder right now. I'm a Slasher Playmaker, 89 overall, have handles for days and tight handles, but I cannot go 2 possessions without Chris Paul stripping the ball out of my hands? Sometimes I'm not even dribbling. I have passing maxed and badges for that too and somehow I can't get a simple open bounce pass without it being intercepted??? I'm so confused. I've played these guys like 7 times and this hasn't happened yet
