Should 2k scrap the neighbourhood and Park?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 11:23 PM PST

The online play continues to be atrocious, and input lag remains unimproved. Would scrapping the park and neighbourhood be worth it to get smooth, lag free games with actual matchmaking?

Why no one wants to play against your SS squad

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 10:08 AM PST

I'll preface this by saying there are plenty of SS I play with that are great teammates. I am SS rank myself and deal with walk offs often, but this is directed at squads who are by far the most boring and worst things about this game online.

You do absolutely nothing but zigzag behind a screen over and over until you get open for a 3. How you can convince a beta big to sit there and set screens for you for hours and hours and watch you score is beyond me. The lack of self respect and confidence it takes to put into a video game doing THAT over and over, I'll never understand.

It is laughable if you consider yourself a good player with your 99 shot creator but you can't score without a glasslock sucking the world into their screens over and over.

I see the dribble move where you speedboost in one direction and then stop immediately and then continue moving in the same direction. How do I do this. I am not that good in english i hope you can understand.

Why hasn't this been done yet? People walk up and see your stats then they leave. Why not just show our name and player? Would be a lot more games being played.

So what is it with slashers in this game?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 07:26 PM PST

This post is related to the Park only. Not rec or Pro Am.

I go back and forth about making a SF Finisher. But then something tells me not to because of the fact that it can't shoot.

I feel like if you can't shoot in the park, you're a liability and useless. But THEN, I see Finishers that seem unstoppable in the Park.

So.. what's the verdict here? Is shooting really a necessity or is it not? Can you get by with a build like that? With no shooting? Or am I just running into amazing players?

A casual player's opinion on what builds to take for 5 v 5 play

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 12:22 AM PST

Disclaimer: I am a majority mycareer player only who only plays online with friends (occasionally) and I am in no way, shape or form a competitive player. Take my post with a grain of salt.

PG: without a doubt, the best pg build in the game is the 6'3/6'4 offensive threat. It is arguably one of the best builds in the game that could legitimately do almost everything you'll ever need, both on offense and defense. You're a slashing-sharp that can control the offense while still being a decent defender on the perimeter.

SG: I would personally still take the offensive threat at the 2 for the same reasons that I listed above. Another great build at the 2 is the 2-way slashing playmaker. If you chose this build, you can be the primary defender on ball, while still being able to have floor general on hof to save your PG 4 extra badge points. You can slash really well, shoot consistently enough, can still handle the ball while being an elite defender. what more could you want from your 2 guard.

SF: The 3 position is a weird place in 2k, especially because it is not optimal to run the offense through the SF because a PG/SG will be much faster and has more playmaking badges. Ideally, you'd want to have the 6'8 (or 6'9) rebounding wing on your squad more often then not. Another player that can space the floor and defend is always welcomed. In my opinion, the build that plays and guards the corner will have to be one of the most disciplined defenders on the court. Your job will be to prevent cuts to the rim while baiting passes to the corner for easy interception steals. Good teams will run plays early in the game, in order to bait you into helping out of the corner when they run the same play later on. Ideally, you'd want this player to have his offensive rebounding maxed to help out of missed 3s.

Pf: So if you didn't know, both lockdown and rim protector give +5 boosts to all of your stats. The difference between the 2 is that former will give you +10 on perimeter defense while the latter will give +10 on interior defense. Floor spacing is super important, and with how easy shooting the 3 is, no matter the build, I would want to have another rebounding wing to play PF for the lockdown takeover. Maybe make the 4 player to be an inch taller for better inside presence, strength and rebounding, but ultimately up to the team to decide.

C: without a doubt, I want the 6'10 Paint beast to be my 5. At 6'10, you're much faster, can jump higher while being an elite finisher at the rim. You can make the argument that that this build will be toasted by a 7' build that could post up. But because your paint beast will be the primary ball screener, the 7' will be absolutely abused on the PnR. If the ball defender goes under, there will be an open 3 available. If he goes over the screen (assuming hof brickwall), the ball handler can either take the open 3, open 2, or drive by for a layup, or lob, if the center is in position for chasedown. If the primary ball defender gets switched onto your paint beast, there will be absolutely nothing a guard can do to stop him. Good teams will let the post up happen because they'd rather have a post up occur than have a shooter possibly getting an open 3 because a defender went and helped. Remeber, 3 is more than 2.

For comparison, at 6'10 your PD is 71, LQ is 64 and Steal is 70. At 7'0, all those 3 will go down by 10, and any taller will only further decrease. Additionally, your speed will decrease from 71-62.Maybe the opposing 4 will switch onto your 5, leaving the opposing 5 to camp the short corner-paint area. That will not be ideal because the corner shooter can either, take the 3 if he helps, bait out the closeout and drive for the easy basket or pass to the open shooter if another defender helps out. You have so many options here to abuse this, imo. Interceptor with maxed arms is ridiculous. A center with high lateral quickness and speed can easily steal bad passes to the paint. Don't underestimate smaller center builds.

Thank you for reading. Obviously, this is all my opinion. Let me know if there's something you disagree with. It's always interesting to see what people like running on comp.
