Breakdown of the best finishing badges for a big. Posted: 05 Nov 2019 10:57 AM PST I've gotten several requests to make a finishing badge breakdown after I made one for defense. https://www.reddit.com/r/NBA2k/comments/d53ln0/full_breakdown_of_the_best_defensive_badges_for_a/ Disclaimer: This is solely my experience and opinion on these badges. I'm honestly not even the best person to talk about finishing badges as I'm a pure defensive center, but I do average 7.5 ppg in park and 13 ppg in rec. https://imgur.com/a/UOmWxgE So here's my experience with every finishing badge for bigs ranked from most important to least. Contact Finisher: This one pretty much goes without saying. I had 95 standing dunk and literally could not dunk before I put this badge on. It's supposed to help with contact layups as well, but it's never once popped up for me on anything but dunks. Even so, it's still the most important finishing badge overall. Consistent Finisher: I've been called trash for having this badge, so I'm sure I'll be called trash for putting it #2, but idc. This badge pops up for almost every layup that isn't green. It even pops up for a lot of "slightly early/lates". I pay attention to layup timing and almost every layup from a big ends up being late or very early (accidental pump fakes). Very few are ever slightly. Youtube, 2klabs, ect will all tell you that pro touch is better, and that's fine. But layup timing (especially contact layups) is pretty random, and you don't want to keep missing everytime someone sneezes on you. Backdown Punisher: This one really depends on what mode you play most and what your playstyle is. It's more important for mycareer and park than rec, but I wouldn't make a big without this atleast silver. If you pay attention to people's 2k cards, most bigs are putting post move lockdown, but not moving truck. Post move lockdown does nothing to counter backdown punisher. So idc if you're a 99 overall glock, if you don't have moving truck, I'm backing you under the goal and going up without a single post move. There's little you can do other than spam steal and pray. https://www.reddit.com/r/NBA2k/comments/dkp3is/i_never_see_big_man_mixes_so_i_made_one_of_me/ Pro Touch: Personally I only have this badge bronze cause I suck at layup timing, and generally my well timed layups tend to go in anyway. But if you're actually skilled around the rim and take time to learn the animations, this badge will increase your chances of making a well timed layup. Dropstepper: For the first few weeks of the game, this badge was OP. I had 95 strength and interior defense, and yet paint beasts and interior forces were moving me out of the way with ease. I'm pretty it was nerfed in one of the patches, but it's still the most reliable post move for an easy basket. I don't have the badge personally since I don't bother with post moves, but a mismatch has no chance of guarding it. Giant Slayer: This is actually one of the most slept on badges for bigs (if you aren't 7'3). I consistently used to get blocked by 7'3s, but then I threw this badge on bronze for my 7'1 center and I've been finishing over them a lot more consistently. I honestly haven't seen the badge pop up, so it could be in my head, but I doubt it. The badge is more effective the bigger the height difference, so for 6'11s it's basically a must have. Fancy Footwork: Moves like hop steps when finishing at the rim are pretty OP this year. They give you better animations and can make it more difficult to contest your layup. I don't use this badge because again, I have no actual skill. But I've seen plenty of slashing bigs like 6'11 paint beasts use this to move right around me when I'm guarding the paint. It works much better than just pressing square and praying. Relentless Finisher: Other than consistent finisher, this is probably the most polarizing finishing badge this year. Some say it's must have and others say it's useless. I lean more towards the people who say it's useless. The badge pops up on every finishing attempt, make or miss, so I think that's what makes people think it's useful. The badge keeps you from losing energy as much when you finish, but it does not help you finish when you have no energy. So if you use all your stamina post spin glitching and then think relentless will bail you out, that's not how it works (in my understanding). Putback Boss: In the first month or so of the game, this was my favorite finishing badge. Most of points come from offensive boards, and this badge on gold was popping up consistently and helping me finish through contact even if my opponent jumped. For a while I even stopped pump faking after the board because I was finishing regardless. Now the badge seems about as useless as 2k19's putback king. I've stopped noticing any difference. It's possible that everyone got their badges and threw on rim protector, intimidator, and pogo stick, but I have very little confidence in my putbacks now. I typically grab the board, move out the paint, and then use gold backdown punisher to finish the job. Putting this badge on bronze does unlock putback dunk animations, but because of the weird animation you get when attempting putbacks, I haven't seen anyone other than bots complete one successfully this year. You typically end up missing the board entirely. Pick & Roller: Another badge that I've tested on every level and haven't noticed a difference. Some have said that it gives a speed boost and helps roll after setting a pick, but I didn't notice a change. I also did not notice a difference in my finishing ability after rolls. Lob City Finisher: Throwing lobs are the fastest way to rep up this year, so you'll notice more and more guards throwing them every game, so you'd think this badge would be higher. But I've tested it on every level, and I haven't noticed a difference. I catch and dunk lobs just fine without the badge and I still miss lobs with the badge on gold. Slithery Finisher: I've been running with this badge on bronze for over a month now and I haven't see it pop up once. So many people swear by it, that I've been riding it out, but personally I haven't noticed a difference. Defenders still seem to get contact on my layups from behind or on the side. I've seen it work wonders for guards, but I personally haven't noticed a benefit. Deep Hooks: I have a 63 post hook rating and no deep hooks badge, and I can't remember the last time I actually missed a post hook. Granted, I don't take many post hooks, but if you have pro touch and can time your hooks well, I haven't seen much use for this badge. It's possible the badge is just being slept on, but I haven't exactly seen people doing sky hooks from the free throw line as was predicted when the game came out. Tear dropper: I haven't used this badge this year, but if it's like 2k19, then it works for more than just the typical floaters. There are several layup animations that trigger tear dropper, but I honestly can't speak to its effectiveness this year. Fastbreak finisher: I'm generally never a fan of badges that only boost takeover meters, especially since it does not actually help you finish fast breaks more consistently. If you're a lockdown who gets steals and fastbreaks in rec, then maybe I'd consider this badge, but other than that I wouldn't bother. Showtime: See fast break finisher. Feel free to let me know where you disagree. Are there badges that I'm sleeping on? [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Nov 2019 02:29 PM PST This is the closest build I have found to the 2K19 Pure Lock on 2K20. I have a 6'7 SG pure red pie (multi-position Defender). I destroy people off iso on offense, posterize them, rebound with bigs, I can shoot corners 3s and middies. Then I clamp 1-5, only trouble is with maxed out interior finishers but get pogo, moving truck both on HoF and you can compete. I hit 44% from 3 and posterize people routinely. 87% win rate in park and I've run mostly the 3 position. It's good for rec too, especially if you man up on the PG or run a zone. I'm sharing this because I hardly see any pure defenders anymore! If I do it's just sharp locks or two way finishers. Multi-Position Defender is the new lock wave. Let's ride it defenders of 2k. Proof of shooting ability: How to make my build: I realize I didn't maximize my badge potential but I sacrificed for the ability to dribble, shoot, rebound, posterize and defend. Badge totals come out to 3/3/6/30. [link] [comments]

Please 2k explain to me why.... Posted: 05 Nov 2019 11:02 AM PST I know everyone loves to complain about 2k but I want to make it clear, I am not joining that bandwagon. I am a passionate fan of the game (preorder every year) since it's inception but, just like so many of you, am getting to a point of pure frustration with some of 2k's decision making. This is not a rant about gameplay because I think the gameplay is pretty good and always has been. Obviously, it has its bugs and glitches, but overall it's a pretty damn good basketball sim. My gripe is more about the game modes and certain aspects that wouldn't be there for any other reason than greed. So, I put together this list of questions that I feel 2k owes answers to its consumers or I'm thinking I might actually join this boycott for 2k21; feel free to add any of your own questions:
This is just a start, please add more. Obviously we all know the answer to these questions is money but if they don't start to address these issues and the many more, I think I'm taking a break. [link] [comments]

Badges that do more than whats in their descriptions Posted: 05 Nov 2019 11:42 AM PST Been experimenting alot with all my badges especially def badges, ive noticed that you cant really rely on badge description for example post move lockdown, you would think that it almost exclusively activates in the post but most at the time for me it activates on the perimeter and its really useful for stopping l2 cheese. What other badges have you notice act differently than their descriptions. [link] [comments]
