    NBA 2K20 simulates the NBA's next 80 years: Part 1 (the story of 2020)

    I took control of all the teams in the NBA in MyLeague mode and set everything to auto. I simulated the crucial games with SimCast and the rest I just simulated. Let's see, season by season, what happens in the NBA from 2020 to 2100. Believe me, there are going to be some surprises...

    A) REGULAR SEASON (WEST) :

    The West provided a shock at the top with Dallas having the best record at 59-23. The contenders in LA made up the top 3 despite long injuries for Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis, Houston just about avoided a humiliating exit, while the Spurs sacked legendary manager Gregg Popovich after a dismal season.

    The Celtics and the Bucks dominated in the East, securing early favorite status for the championship, the Cavs made a surprise entrance into the playoffs, while the Nets had the worst record in the NBA, tanking without their two star men, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. They're both back for next season though, so expect to see them much higher in the future.

    Notable inclusion: Demar DeRozan started for Team Giannis despite playing for the Spurs, who finished bottom of the Western Conference.

    Dunk contest winner: Terrance Ferguson (OKC)

    G) THE PLAYOFFS (WEST) :

    First round:

    Golden State performed the only clean sweep of the first round by winning 4-0 against Portland.

    Clippers beat OKC in six despite Kawhi's injury, but have to face the Lakers who scorched past Memphis in five.

    Dallas needed a game 7 to beat 8th seed Rockets but their journey goes on.

    Conference semi-finals:

    Mavericks back to their best, clean sweep the Warriors to make a statement of intent as championship contenders.

    Clippers fall to their city rivals in five, their wait for a title goes on after a frustrating season.

    Conference Finals:

    LeBron and AD find it tough against the Mavs but force a Game 7. The top-seeded team, however, gets the job done to advance to the NBA Finals. Maybe next year, LeBron.

    H) THE PLAYOFFS (EAST) :

    First round:

    All 4 series ended in 5 games, with Boston, Philly and the title favorites Bucks advancing, the Raptors a surprise elimination from the Heat in the only true shock of the first round.

    Conference semi-finals:

    The Celtics continue their playoff rampage with a 4-1 series win over the 76ers, but the Heat steal the show with one of the biggest upsets in NBA history: A clean sweep over the almighty Bucks to advance to the Conference Finals.

    2-time MVP Giannis has 1 year left on his contract, does he need to change teams to win a championship and do the Bucks just lack the mentality to win the big games in the playoffs?

    Conference Finals:

    The Heat did a brilliant job to get to this point as the 6th seed, but Boston isn't joking this year. Easy win in five, Celtics v Mavericks in the Finals, Celtics overwhelming favorites.

    I) THE NBA FINALS:

    Celtics have everything going for them: Home court advantage, less games played in the playoffs, a stronger, more versatile squad, and the best NBA record in the regular season. So, with the series 2-0 in Boston's favour, surely another ring is all wrapped up for the NBA's most successful franchise?

    Step forward Kristaps Porzingis....

    The Mavericks center is the undisputed finals MVP, and with some stellar performances from himself and Luka Doncic, Dallas ties the series, and then after losing game 5, they win by 18 points to force a game 7 in Boston.

    It shouldn't have come to this point, but the Celtics are still the favourites. They lead by 3 points at halftime, 61-58, but they're not at their best.

    In the clutch moments, Porzingis and the Mavs step up, and turn the game around to win 127-117.

    A solid roster, but no-where near the star power of the LA teams or the Bucks, and without the versatility of the Celtics, have managed to win the championship, with Porzingis averaging 34.4 PPG in the 7 Finals games.

    And so, for the second time in their history....

    THE DALLAS MAVERICKS ARE YOUR NBA CHAMPIONS!!!!

    I'm kind of sick of the version of MyCareer where there's an after school special story for 30 minutes then the rest of it is giving canned answers in the same corny interviews, you can't even request your teammates to be traded. I hope 2K21 changes that up and our player can have more than two options of what to do, controversy, rivalries, like in the past. I think they should provide more of a story line once you start playing in the NBA and give you more freedom to decide what player you want to be, whether you act like Mike Conley or Allen Iverson. I'm not saying a make whole movie, just something to make it feel like it's actually interesting.

    I know nobody cares because this won't make 2K any extra VC, but here we go:

    1. Punish people harder for playing bad basketball. It is literally impossible for your teammate grade to go low enough to be kicked anymore. Also... reassess what your definition of good basketball is. Way too much praise and reward for stupid shots that just happen to go in. Way too little punishment for turnovers, being a ball hog, leaving your assignment on defense, and taking a poor shot.

    2. These are superstars and all time greats. They dont miss wide open layups and dunks just because 99 overall Kareem is flailing in the air behind them with an intimidator badge. Again... punish poor defense when defenders get tricked into jumping early.

    3. How hard is it to make all of one team wear white jerseys? Seriously. Its confusing as heck when you're team is all color jerseys so you toss an oop up to Shaq because he's wearing Laker gold and... surprise surprise you got a turnover sonnnnnnn. There's a white Laker jersey. Use it.

    4. If a teammate is calling 5 timeouts in a row, just kick them from the game immediately.

    5. Put the usable superstars on a random rotator per game. Its kinda boring just going up against 99s every game. Maybe force players to mix it up a bit more.

    6. Server lag.

    7. Bans given out for leaving games due to server lag.

    8. We should be able to play this mode as a single player. (Player control is not the same thing. Its a different player pool)

    9. The AI is dumb as a rock when running the fast break and the AI bricks way too many open shots when you get the defense to double you.

    10. You care so little about this mode that you didn't even give it a flair.

    Is the only way to get a contact dunk if the defender is standing in the restricted area right under the hoop?

    Is it possible to activate contact dunks in other areas of the paint? It seems like most people have caught on that you shouldn't stand right under the basket, so does that leave contact dunks irrelevant if the defender won't position for it?

    Contact dunk blocks

    Anyone else getting blocked on contact dunks? Last I checked the person getting dunked on isn't supposed to be able to move, let alone block your dunk, yet somehow whenever I get the contact animation lately, I get blocked as my arm is going down by the guy I'm dunking on.

    Which NBA 2k had the smartest/best AI in your opinion?

    The AI in 2k20 is kinda... Special. Players finding open lanes and having a clear path to the hoop but not driving, players not passing to wide open teammates, SUPERSTARS running AWAY from the rim with the ball in their hands, bigmen dancing around in the zone until they get whistled for violation...

    I could continue.

    So which NBA 2k did actually have a smart AI in your opinion?
