Anyone else play 2k so much that they can tell which animations will miss and which will make the shot, and which will result in a foul

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:20 AM PST

I've noticed that I can literally tell what the outcome will be based on the animations.

My NBA 2K20 Kobe Bryant Memorial Team Design & What Kobe Meant to Me | Free for All to Use | Not a Promotion

Kobe inspired basketball court. Thank you Kobe <3

    Black Mamba snakeskin inspired jersey.

Ratings for the starting 5 on the '09-'10 LA Lakers: Derek Fisher (72) Kobe Bryant (98) Ron Artest (79) Pau Gasol (86) Andrew Bynum (76)

If you don't care about the post and just want the links, here they are:

The roster can be found by searching by gamertag (on Xbox) and typing "Majin x Buuddha".

The court and logo can be found in MyLEAGUE by searching for the key word "KOBE MEMORIAL" under upload/download team designs in relocation.

    Hey all,

Like everyone else, I have been deeply saddened by the passing of Kobe Bryant. Although I never got to know him personally, he was still my hero growing up. Everyone has a Kobe story, and here is mine:

When I was learning how to shoot the ball as a kid, I was watching Kobe interviews on how to do it and trying to copy his form. When I had to have surgery as a teen and was told by doctors not to play contact sports anymore, it was Kobe who gave me the will to do so. It was watching Kobe's moves that made me want to go outside every day after school, rain or shine, bright or dark, and practice those no look fadeaways and circus layups every damn day. I was never athletic enough (or tall enough) to be able to dunk like Kobe, but the way he was able to transition from a high flyer to someone with the best footwork the game has ever seen was inspirational to me, and I loved to copy "old" Kobe whenever I played. Outside of basketball, I took the Mamba Mentality with me. In school, in business, in the weight room, music, etc.

When I learned of Kobe's passing, it was the strangest thing. I was playing NBA 2K20, finishing up and perfecting a custom roster for a MyLEAGUE. Of course, I was going to be using the 2010 Lakers. I had just finished up with Shanon Brown when my girlfriend looked over and told me that her mom texted her that Kobe died and asked if I knew. Her mom is known for falling for fake news a lot, and I thought, "there's no way dude, he's like 40." I dismissed it as a joke, but I had a weird feeling so I checked my phone. "What, you're gonna check?" At this point, we were both laughing, at her mom not at the situation. But then both our faces turned bleak when we saw the TMZ report. Then the ESPN report. Then the New York Times report, and so on. The worst of it was when I found out GiGi was in the helicopter with him.

Needless to say, I haven't really wanted to play in that league ever since. But today I found myself having the will to pick up 2K because of unfinished business. I figured somehow in my mind that I at least owed Kobe and GiGi that. I finished the roster after scraping the internet and managing to find the exact ratings from the end of NBA 2k10 after Kobe won the championship and constructed the team top to bottom, down to the player's ages and contracts. The only player I didn't touch the attributes on was Kobe himself, because a 92 rating at the end of 2K10 just seemed too low to me, so I used the all-time team version instead. Of course, his age and contract is correct as well.

I also made a memorial Lakers rebrand. The court is based off of the 2010 Lakers court that he won his last championship on. However, instead of "Staples Center" for the arena name a took a PNG of Kobe's signature and replaced it. I put the #8 and #24 as a memory from his last game on the left and right side of the court, respectively. For the courtside ads, I put 6 pictures of Kobe from photos that I think highlighted the most important moments of his life:

    1. A photo of him in his Lower Merrion #33 jersey.
    2. A photo of him in his iconic jacket from his first chip. It isn't the iconic photo of him looking sad that we all know, but rather, it's a picture of him smiling with the trophy.
    3. His first Finals MVP championship in 2009. Speaks for itself.
    4. His championship from 2010. This was both his last championship and the one that put him permanently ahead of Shaq in ring count. When they patched things up, he admitted this one was one of the most important because he had finally beaten Shaq. Still makes me laugh.
    5. Him posing with his Oscar.
    6. The iconic photo we've all seen of him taking a selfie with his family on vacation. At the end of his life when it was all said and done, he was a fantastic athlete, but I think what he wanted to be remembered as even more was a great family man, and that is something that all of us can relate to.

For the jersey, I opted to remake the iconic snakeskin jersey (unfortunately I couldn't actually make it look like snakeskin) that Kobe designed himself in 2017. Instead of the wish logo on the top right, I put a silhouette of Kobe doing his signature fadeaway. While I was originally going to put it on the court like Dirk has in Dallas, I thought this would be a more fitting tribute.

The re-brand isn't the flashiest. I try and make my courts and uni's look clean, like something you would actually see in an NBA game. This made me think of something you would see on Kobe night or a memorial game. Of course, it's available to anyone who wants to use it. The roster can be found by searching by gamertag (on Xbox) and typing "Majin x Buuddha", and the re-brand can be found by searching for the key word "KOBE MEMORIAL". I want to share his legacy among 2k, so if there is anyone out there besides me who actually plays MyLEAGUE, feel free to take a look and maybe use it for your own Laker night.

Rest in peace to Kobe and Gianna Bryant, John, Keri, and Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christina Mauser, and Ara Zobayan. Feel free to leave your own posts discussing what Kobe meant to you down below, I'd love to read through them.

Why not convince 2K to make a sequel to MJ: Creating a Legend for Kobe?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 03:56 AM PST

First-time poster here, but after playing MyCareer yesterday and trying to recreate Kobe's career, I remember that 2K made a game mode for Jordan's legacy which included his most influential games called "The Jordan Challenge": https://www.nba-live.com/nbalivewiki/index.php?title=The_Jordan_Challenge It was different from the regular MyCareer gameplay, but I think it had a different element to it. The game mode was launched a year after Jordan was inducted into the hall of fame, I don't see why Kobe can't have it now. As others might note, the challenged also asked us to go through the toughest times in Jordan's career but I think Kobe's career is storied just as storied for tha as well.
Right now, I'm not sure how to argue for us to convince 2K to make this game mode. I'm thoroughly sad about his tragedy and I don't know how best to relive it without 2K as a release.

    Inbound in rec/pro am

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:50 PM PST

How does 2k select which person will be inbounding the ball. 90% of the time in rec/pro am I'm selected to be the inbounder. This has been happening since like 2k18. Ive used both guards and bigs. Cant confirm if it selects the player with the least amount of turnovers per game. Any thoughts?

For NBA2k21 - MyCareer Should Be a Story About The Legend Himself

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 10:59 AM PST

The Title of this Story could be: "A Tribute to Kobe Bryant. The Journey to the NBA."

Seems like 2k is going for a "story" like MyCareer now with you struggling through college and making it to the NBA.

    • Why not a new story about how Kobe went from Lower Merion Highschool to the NBA
    • Heck, add Kobe's MANY impactful quotes as you take the journey that Kobe Bryant went through.
    • Maybe add a montage of people yelling "KOBE!" as the fadeback for a shot as a cutscene.(Montage)
    • Add a moment where you try to score 81 but fell short and after that game, the reporters ask you to reflect on Kobe Bryant's career as you barely got to 81(Scripted).
    • Even add a cutscene where you dream about that last second shot and doing a fadeaway shot, yelling "KOBE!"(Your player doing the fadeaway).

Why not have the MyCareer story take you from Highschool phenom(Kobe) straight to the NBA? And the struggle is managing the criticism of "You should of went to college!" "Your too young for the NBA, kid!" ect ect Some of the story can replicate what Kobe did. Stay with your parents for the rookie year.

HECK MAKE THE CHAMPIONSHIP DNA "BADGE": MAMBA MENTALITY!

Or make a new badge: MAMBA MENTALITY

Am sure, everyone has more ideas, share them in the comments.

Looking to make a Kobe build (need help)

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:16 PM PST

Rip the GOAT, Kobe Bryant, my favourite player.

Looking to make a Kobe Bryant build. Decided a good way for me to cope and go through this without being depressed is by making a build based off of Kobe. I did a my team run with ame Kobe and it made me feel amazing.

I decided I wanted to make a player, go through my career and grind him without buying VC, mama mentality.

So far I got the shooting/dunking pie chart, got the most out of the badges, just trying to determine wingspan, weight, and the hardest of all HEIGHT, would love to hear suggestions.

I really can't decide between 6"5 and 6"6. If I go with 6"5 I decided I am prioritizing speed, if I go with 6"6 I should prioritize speed and strength.

Would love to hear suggestions before I start my journey, willing to change my build around.

Experienced Players Can You Pls Help me ? Which Build is Better between these two ?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 02:42 AM PST

Link where you can see the final stats of 2 builds and wingspans = https://ibb.co/G54nRDP

    Top one is a PF Height is 6'8 Badges = 1 F - 10 S- 17 P- 20 D Comes out as a Playmaking Glass Cleaner

    Bottom one is a SF Height is 6'9 Badges = 7 F - 15 S - 22 P - 7 D Comes out as a Pass-First Wing

    Both Takeovers are Playmaking

It's obvious the first one is more defensive and 2nd one is more offensive but I just want to know which build is better in general to play park 2v2 3v3 and mostly Rec? Thank you in advance.

Is it just me, or did getting A+ teammate grades in my career get so much easier?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 06:55 PM PST

I started playing MyCAREER again, and compared to 2k19, getting an A+ teammate grade is so much easier. Has anyone else noticed that? (This is for 2k20)

Exploring the role of personality in problematic loot box use [Academic Research]

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 01:38 AM PST

As part of my undergraduate degree in Psychology, I am required to undergo a research project. I have decided to explore the role of certain personality traits and their role in video games and problematic loot box use.

I would be extremely grateful if you could spare 15 minutes of your time to complete the questionnaire. Please only participate if you have purchased loot boxes, or have purchased currency to buy loot boxes (such as VC). 18+ only please! https://ntupsychology.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6iofgZP2NjHs88l

    (MyCareer)Trade influence actually worked?!!

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 07:38 PM PST

In season 2 for the pelicans and I requested that we try to trade for Mitch Robinson (86 ovr). Needed a solid rim defender and rebound monster to get easy transition buckets for Zion and I. To my sheer shock, within 3 games, he's on my roster. (Seriously, I think this is the 2nd time in my lifetime of getting a trade to work). So I go and look to see who got sent to the knicks, assuming they probably got BI or someone similarly rated, or at least one of my centers in return, and it turns out all i lost was E'twaun Moore and an end-of-the-bench guy.

Tldr: requested a player trade on a system that 99.9% never works, got a monster for next to nothing.

Anyone else have a crazy success (or nightmare) story on trade influence?
