2k is basically an arcade game with pretty graphics, not a basketball sim. And that’s sad.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 03:19 PM PST

Look. Maybe I'm in the minority. I truly do not know. But something that's always bothered me about 2k is dunk frequency and just unrealistic gameplay. That last point is hardly a hot take, but the dunking highlights a bigger problem in the game.

Dunks do not happen all that often irl. They of course do and it's always a hype moment, but in 2k every third possession ends in a dunk. It's not really all the exciting when it happens. Fuck me even in the 21 trailer Tim Hardaway goes behind the back and posters tf out of a center (I don't remember who it was). I like Tim, but how often is he doing that??? Once maybe twice a season, but in game you can do that all the time it's stupid.

Therefore I feel like 2k is marketing to casual nba fans. Which makes it an arcade game, not a basketball sim which is what they market themselves to be. Whether it be Giannis flat out windmilling in the half court (find me one single highlight of him ever windmilling off two feet in his entire history), or just not being able to shoot off the dribble with any sort of efficiency, the game just doesn't do it for me anymore.

I've bought every 2k since 2k6, and after two months, I'm already done with 21. Used to be the only game I'd buy for a whole year as a massive nba fan, but I've moved onto other games lately. Maybe this is not a new take but I don't really follow the 2k YouTube community or anything. Thought next gen would revitalize my love for 2k, but better graphics and continual flawed gameplay wasn't ever going to do it. When they say 21 on next gen was a clean sheet build, I flat out don't believe them. Same. Shitty. Animations.

Praise be the developers of NBA live. I hope they can really pump out an amazing next gen product. If nothing else, it'll hopefully force 2k to finally make an effort to improve the game. What we as 2k fans have been subjected to is a straight up monopoly, and proof that competition is good.

If anyone has any other takes on this. Whether that be agreement or disagreement i'd love to hear it.

[Edit] - I virtually play offline myleague exclusively and have for almost the past 15 years. So this rant doesn't even include latency issues online and pay to play myplayer / myteam

I know that 2ks “shades of” comparisons aren’t good but come on. Derozan?

When will 2K address finishing for Big Men (I have HOF posterizer and rise up)? CHRISTIAN WOOD WOULD FINISH THESE LAYUPS EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK

Why does this animation even exist?

Why do people complain about next gen being broken?

Spamming dribble moves and shooting fadeaways isn’t the meta if you’re bad at it

Every PG I play with goes 3/8 and plays exactly the same way

It's Time For 2K To Get Rid Of The Expensive Clothing!

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 11:37 PM PST

I'll get straight to the point, no clothing in this game should cost over 10k VC. I don't care if it's shoes, hoodies, or bookbags. It's ridiculous to have clothes priced at 25k or 30k, especially how hard it is to come around VC now. 2k should really kill this habit of overpricing their clothes. I understand they want the consumer to spend money on VC, but c'mon 2k have some kind of common sense. A shirt with the Champion logo shouldn't be 15k, that's just ridiculous. 2K really needs to rethink their cosmetic prices, it's getting annoying and silly at this point.

Bro what is 2K on this year with tats

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 07:37 PM PST

NBA 2k21 on Current Gen is just a 2k20 downgrade.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:06 PM PST

I'm not the type to shit on 2k every year. I enjoy the games, but this game on current gen consoles is despicable.

    [New features:]

    Roster Update

    New MyCareer Story

    New Shooting/On-court Mechanics

    New Sound Track

    New Neighborhood

    [Removed features (from previous game):]

    Daily VC from endorsement building

    Daily Bonus (challenge)

    Larger daily spin prizes

2x VC prize from daily spin (does not work)

    Post game interviews

    Locker room cut scenes

    Radio show recordings

    ....

Almost everything else in the game is reused elements from 2k20.

    I'm disappointed overall.

Why do we continue to buy this absolutely trash game every single year?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 11:06 AM PST

I don't understand it. The game does not work at all. It takes me and my friends 30+ minutes to join each other's city because our games freeze and crash constantly. Half of the people in the city are invisible. You never know if a court is taken until you run up next to it. The constant lag outs, horrible animations that make no sense. The game does not work at all. It is literally unplayable in my opinion. Something needs to change because people spend their hard earned money supporting this travesty of a company. They never fix anything. Patch jumpshots and don't tell anyone. 2k needs to do better, because there's no good reason why a game on a NEXT GEN console should run this poorly. It's ridiculous.

    New Western courts

This is what is wrong with contacts, the animation of a contact seems to just overide anything 90% of the time.

What do we think of this Slashing Shot Creator? (Meant to play the 3 in Park, Clamps and Brick Wall, Pro dribble moves at 99 )

Can we please just get the ability to look at the 2k cards of our teammates while we're waiting to match? Maybe at least get access to our progression screen?

Can you only stay extra years in college for next gen?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 08:03 PM PST

I'm on PS4 and I read that you can stay in college for four years but apparently it's only for next gen? I didn't get the option on PS4. Just straight to the draft.

Next Gen - Solo Rec SFs: How Quickly & Frequently Do You Find 5 Man (No AI) Lobbies?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 11:26 PM PST

Current evaluating making a second build which would be a different build construction as a primary Center.

Although after the multitude of eternal wait times or being forced to leave the queue lobby as a result of AIs joining, I'm beginning to consider a position switch as a by-product of excessive PFs limiting matchmaking.

I still don't believe even with the shift in PF quantities that it outweighs the general past history of PGs being the most populated position though as many people still chase being a primary ball handler in position assignment.

Given the abundance of PGs & PFs, I'm hypothesizing that a SF is actually the optimal position for quicker matchmaking although wanted some feedback if that proves accurate.

It's of course entirely possible the matchmaking just sucks dick across the board which would be in line for 2K.

The feedback however should tell me if I can improve upon the 10 to 15 attempts it takes to finally find a 5 man lobby as a Center.
