    Went back to 2000 and simulated to today. Here is what happened

    Here are the biggest narratives/interesting things that happened (to me at least)

    Below is a chart of all the champions, mvps, top draft picks, and other things.

    Prelude: In 2001 the Pelicans weren't a thing, so I just made them the St Louis Spirits, so if you see STL that's them. Also, to follow history (with a bit of a spin), in 2008 using a RNG on the bottom 6 teams and a US city the Charlotte Hornets became the Kansas City Monarchs.

    1. Kobe and Shaq never broke up. While they didn't get the 3-Peat they did win 4 overall. However Shaq got his first ring w/o Kobe (missed half the playoffs due to an injury), so I think in this universe it's more decisively Shaq was better in this universe. Both men retire as Lakers.
    2. Lerbon doesn't become the Lebron James we know today. While he is consistently a top 5 - 10 player, with many all star appearances, and some MVP's. He never makes it to the finals. Only making the ECF one time in his final year in the league. Of that draft class Carmelo is easily the best player winning 5 straight MVP's a championship and multiple scoring titles. However, it is very clear Michael Jordan is still the GOAT like a mile in this world, with a very distant second.
    3. A lot of greats who went without rings, get theirs including; Tracy McGrady, Chris Webber, and Charles Barkley. On the other hand a lot of championship main stays never happen like Lebron and Steph.
    4. Kevin Garnette spends his entire career with the Timberwolves. The biggest surprise player was Shareef Abdul-Rahim. IRL he's a long time journey man, in this game he's a two time MVP and NBA champion getting his jersey retired with the Grizzlies. Jimmy Butler's knee blew up and he retired at the end of 2020.
    5. Kwame Brown and Brandon Roy were not total busts. While they weren't mega stars, Kwame Brown won 6th man of the year and Brandon Roy is still active at age 35.
    6. A lot of players we know today, never come to be. However that's mostly due to just the limitations of 2k. Essentially if they were never on an all star team they amount to nothing. Players like Patrick Beverly, both Morris twins, Patty Mills, Danny Green, and so on either have 1 - 2 year careers or go undrafted and just retire, with random filler CAP from 2k going on to be stars. Obviously with the cap issues and player progression issues the game has you have an 88 rated Joel Embiid sitting in free agency for year because all these generated filler players in the historical draft classes are demanding top tier contracts.

    If there is a player you want to know what happened to just ask and I'll try my best. If they are active in the game still I can pull up everything, however if they're retired the game essentially wipes them from the save and I can't pull up any past stats, I'll just have to go based on my memory.

    2K21 current gen is quite literally the most pointless game ever, especially released in September

    As developers are working on 2k21 for next gen, it was obvious the current gen version was going to be minimally different from 2k20. But the COVID 19 and re-schedule of the whole NBA season really made this game pointless until we are close to the new season.

    Usually 2K titles are similar, but with minor gameplay improvements, new uniforms, courts, and most importantly players on new teams and rookies.

    This year for current gen, we have - Same gameplay as 2k20 except for the shot meter - Same rosters - No rookies! - No new uniforms - No new courts

    Once the new season starts and all those get added, buying the game will make sense, but why did they release in September, when it's void of new content. Total cash grab by 2k! Next gen will at least have a lot of graphical and gameplay improvements to be worth the purchase even without all the things, described above.
