ANNOUNCEMENT: We are testing a new Verified Content Creator program. During this test, you may see more YouTubers sharing their content here. This is a program for select users, our Promotion Guidelines have not changed.

    What is this program?

We are testing a new Verified Content Creator program. YouTubers in this program will share their content on r/NBA2K and hopefully engage with the community. Next to their username will be special logos (ex. YouTube logo) and their posts will be marked as original content.

    Why start this program?

There's a disconnect between r/NBA2K and the rest of the 2K community and we want to alleviate that before 2K21. For example, our Feedback threads are one of the best public lines to 2K but we don't have enough diversity or quality in the opinions there.

A popular suggestion users give us in our biannual surveys is to be less restrictive on content creators. While we will remain strict with our Promotion Guidelines, especially on new accounts who just want to take advantage of a big audience, we want to make sure everyone feels welcome here.

We realize this may not be popular and we are expecting some negative reactions. All we ask is that you keep your mind open (again, this is just a test) and we hope good things will come out of this! Please be welcoming and friendly to one another.

Who is in this program? How do I join?

Our test is invite-only with a small group of content creators, many of whom you will recognize. If the test goes well, we will share more details later on how you can join.

Thanks for your understanding and, as always, let me know if you have any questions/suggestions!

What are some cool NBA player / 2K crossover ideas the league could consider during this hiatus?

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 08:47 PM PDT

With the actual league on hiatus for at least a month, is there anything cool that could be done with real players and 2K? Since so many actual players play the game, and they're being told to play indoors, thought of some ideas:

    1. Player rep from each of the 30 teams continues 2019-20 season with current standings in a MyLeague type scenario (example: Devin Booker represents Suns, Ben Simmons represents Sixers)

    2. Tournament where 32 players choose their all time starting five (no fatigue / injuries) and go head to head in a bracket to determine the best all time starting 5.

    3. NBA What Ifs: Simulating hypothetical scenarios (example: Harden stays on OKC, Jordan vs LeBron)

    4. 5 v 5: Real life players draft an all time great and have to play as a team of only that player (example: five Hakeems vs five Currys), with draft order decided by real life players rating in 2K (ties broken up by teams real season record)

Curious if there are any others that'd be interesting. I know we're all bored without any games on so maybe we can get enough ideas going that the league actually considers doing one. What do they have to lose?

Buddy Ball is probably my biggest pet peeve

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 09:12 AM PDT

I can understand some games when you just don't touch the ball that much. The offense works through different players and the flow is different. Just had a rec game where the big's shot the ball 45 times because we just kept feeding them. I shot like 6 times. I'm okay with this, because it happens.

However, if you go to the extent to only pass to one person and ignore me if I'm wide open in the corner, that's not okay. Forcing passes to your friend at the expense of the team (and yourself as well, you're going to turn it over more) is not okay. I can tell the former vs. the latter. You can play buddy ball. Just know I'm also going to throw the game if it gets to a certain point, and it will be well deserved.

You can’t make this stuff up

Two Unpopular Opinipns. 1. Win % is based entirely off of having great teammates. 2. Running with randies is a must.

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 01:13 PM PDT

    1. This applies to both rec and park.

I have seen many a player with 85% win in park and rec, and the second they play with randoms, they are straight ass.

A few times, some of my homies part of the 80% and up win crew will hop on the opposite spot, and I proceed to viciously molest them into submission.

Moral of the story, do not judge those with low rep and win%. Looking at shooting splits and turnovers will give a much better indicator of skill.

I do not judge players off of their win%. I make a habit of routinely running with randoms just to meet new folks and work on my craft.

    1. You have to run with randies.

Why? Because when you run with your friends, you get accustomed to certain ways of scoring. You get comfortable. I.e behind the screen cheese.

Randies won't do this for you, this forces you to find alternative means to score. Rounding out every aspect of your offensive arsenal.

Yes you will lose more games, but the point is to get better, not chase some win%.

TL;DR. Don't judge folks on win% and play with randoms.

NBA2K20 really stepped up the realism this year. Poor Tristan Thompaon foreshadowed this.
