2K producer: “MyCareer is a bit of a different beast in next gen. Obviously, we’re not going to have the Beach in next gen. We’ve got something brand new, which is completely crazy. It doesn’t make sense to have that progress carry on over.”

I'm developing a game similar to 2k because it's a shame there is no competition and NBA live was just a fail.

Since I want to get it done and ready asap it's only going to be an online multiplayer with no other modes

It will be like the park but with better scenery and much more different things to do, planning to be a free game with in game purchases that way more people experience it since it's just a start, worse case scenario it'll be full price but with a demo or something.. but anyway I won't dive too much into details but if you like the idea let me know

I need some extra help so any designers developers or even donations will be greatly appreciated.

I already have so much in mind so if you have questions just let me know, let's start a new wave for once

Using unreal engine 4.25 if anyone cared

2K would like to add the 2010 Lakers, but they cannot get in touch with Andrew Bynum. If you have a way to contact him, you can help!

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 10:33 AM PDT

In case you're confused, when a player retires, 2K has to make a deal with them to use their name & likeness. This is why players like Charles Barkley and Reggie Miller aren't in 2K. They want to get Andrew Bynum's permission but have no way to get in touch with him.

If @Ronnie2K has DMs open to you, message him with legitimate info. If he doesn't, you can message me and I'll get it to the right place.

It would be really cool if we could shoot around while we wait for a game in the park

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 07:38 PM PDT

Probably not the easiest thing to implement but it would be really nice if they did this in the future. Rather than just stand still for the, sometimes, 10-15 min wait to play again.

There's no worst feeling in 2k than struggling as a shooter

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 11:26 AM PDT

Especially when you are usually a good shooter and a maxed out build. Losing games in the Rec with your boys because you can't shoot while they expecting you to go crazy hurts so much.

2k21 MyCareer Build Spread Sheet in Detail

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 11:33 PM PDT

I was thinking of doing a spread sheet to compare every build and see the best positions per height for attribute before the game comes out or maybe after. I need to see if this is something that is even wanted before I even think of committing to this project. The source will be coming from https://www.nba2klab.com/2k21/myplayer-builder so it is trusted.

Question to the people who hate inside centers

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 08:32 AM PDT

Why do y'all think it's ok that a center can have 99 standing dunk with HOF finishing badges and get forced to do a standing layup under the rim that we miss 7/10 because you stand there with your hands up or next to us with HOF intimidator? Why should we have to constantly pump fake or just pass out of a shot? The amount of times I've not been able to dunk or stopped someone from dunking just by being near them is ridiculous. Even if I pump fake and get you to jump they gave you pogo stick which means basically I'm gonna miss. Why is everything jump shooting? It's better to have a 70 3pt shot than a 99 standing dunk. It's so backwards.

    Rewriting NBA History Part 3

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 08:59 PM PDT

ere is a link to part 2

    https://www.reddit.com/r/NBA2k/comments/ihx0m5/rewriting_nba_history_part_2/g370xhy/?context=3

I want to give credit to Dom2k for the idea and u/GriEr05 for the format.

This is a re-sim of NBA History. I play on PS4 and the furthest I could go back with a full roster and accurate historic draft classes was the beginning of the 1989-90 season. So I will start there and continue with historic draft classes until present day. From there I will keep adding future draft classes and when they run out I will continue with fictional created draft classes and see how many years I can go. I control all teams in the league so this will be more of a whole league look rather than one team. Also I am using a random event generator to add more storylines to the league. I got the idea from this thread

    https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/nba-2k-basketball/964675-myleague-random-events.html

    1991-1992

    A) REGULAR SEASON (WEST) :

The Seattle Supersonics were the top team in the West this year. They posted the highest scoring offense in the league for the third year in a row, since we started the sim. Dale ELlis is now averaging 20 points a game with Xavier McDaniel, but when will all this regular season success translate into the postseason? The Utah Jazz are another team that has done well in the regular season, but have back to back first round exits. This year it was a three way battle between the 2nd seed and 4th seed between them, Portland and Phoenix. Phoenix, was struggling around the trade deadline, but meet a deal at the trade deadline to bring in Heat center Rony Seikaly. I was pretty excited to see a deal like this. 2K's trade logic has a pattern of making no sense at all, but this is a deal that I could see being done in real life. The Suns one weak spot in the lineup was the center spot and that would be a spot that could give the Bulls trouble. The Heat were in the bottom 3 all year, and the big prizes of the draft are Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning, so the deal makes sense for them as well. The Utah Jazz also were dealing at the deadline and picked up Hot Rod Williams and Craig Ehlo from Cleveland in exchange for draft picks. Both Phoenix and Utah benefited from their deals as both players contributed in a big way for their new teams. The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors battle for the eight seed came down to an end of the year game between each other. James Worthy once again came through in the clutch hitting another game winner as time expired that put the Lakers in the playoffs.

    13. Sacramento Kings

    B) REGULAR SEASON (EAST) :

This was a spectacular year in the East. At the beginning of the year, nobody was playing better than Charles Barkley and the Philadelphia 76ers. They got off to a fast start behind muiltiple stat stuffing games from the best power forward in the game. After about the first 25 games, they began to fall off a bit and that enabled the Detroit Pistons to take the top spot. Isiah Thomas was leading the Pistons after re-signing over the summer. He had even added a lethal three point jumper to his game. They had a couple of classic games against Philly during the year with Isiah and Barkley going basket for basket with each other. They even exchanged game winners, with Barkley hitting one to end the first battle in overtime, and Isiah draining a three with Mike Gminski in his face as time expired in the other. Barkley missed a couple of weeks after the All-Star break and that was all it took for Philly to slide and Detroit to take off and lock up the top seed again. The defending champs were keeping pace, Michael Jordan is now without question the best player on the planet and a defending champion. MJ would once again lead the league in scoring, while finishing top 3 in steals, field goal percentage, and PER. He did all this despite suffering a broken toe that forced him to miss the All-Star game. It was a very interesting MVP race this season between Barkley, Isiah, and Jordan. Barkley started off really strong then his case fell of when he got hurt and that left Isiah and Jordan as the two remaining candidates. Jordan had the better numbers but Isiah's team had the higher seed so I could have seen this going either way. In the end MJ walked away with another MVP his 2nd since the sim started. In New York, big man Patrick Ewing had another stellar season and his supporting cast of Mark Jackson and Cedric Ceballos continue to get better making them a top team in the East. Finally, Charlotte Hornets earned their franchise first playoff berth in dramatic fashion, winning on the last day of the season to clinch the spot.

    F) THE ALL-STAR GAME:

    Team Jordan vs Team Malone

Notable moments: Kevin Mchale caught fire to end the game making his last four shots to put the game away for Team Jordan/

3pt contest winner: Dana Barros (Sonics)

Dunk contest winner: Shawn Kemp (Sonics

    G) THE PLAYOFFS (WEST) :

    First round:

This series was almost the exact same as last season, game 2 even ended with a Lakers game winner. The Sonics took the next three behind Xavier Mcdaniel's scoring and moved on to the next round.

The Phoenix Suns were down 2-1 to the Clippers then Kevin Johnson showed why he has been one of the best point guards in the sim. He averaged a double double over the last three games, all Phoenix wins.

The backcourt of Terry Porter and Clyde Drexler has become one of the best in the league. They complement each other well and both can go off for 20+ on any given night. The collective of the Trail Blazers was too much for the Rockets to handle and the Blazers moved on in 6

Utah had no problem with San Antonio sending them home in a sweep. The two West teams with the best centers in the league have won one playoff series since we started the sim and that was a match up against each other.

    Conference semi-finals:

The Phoenix Suns and Seattle Supersonics faced off for the third year in a row in the playoffs. Having split the last two meetings, so with a good series this time around, this had the makings of our first sim generated rivalry. Seattle was not here for that and dominated Phoenix in four games. They took the first two games at home and Phoenix lost their shooting guard Jeff Hornacek to a broken leg and were not able to overcome that the next two games.

Utah had a rematch with Portland after Portland sent them home in a first round upset last year. THe back court of Portland vs the two man game of Utah made for a great series. The first three games were all decided by 10 points or less and every game at least one person scored 30+ points. Karl Malone started established himself in the conversation of best Power Forward in the league this serieswith multiple 40 point games. Game 7 was a sim classic with Clyde putting up 50, but Terry Porter struggling, while the Malone and Stockton each went for 30. The post play for Utah was a definite advantage all the way down to the end as Malone corralled an offensive rebound with Utah protecting a one point lead with less than ten seconds to go. Malone was fouled and made both free throws. Utah deflected the inbounds pass on the Blazers last play and it looked like Utah had finally conquered their playoff troubles.

    Conference Finals:

Seattle was a cut above every team in the West all year except the Conference finals. The Supersonics prided themselves on being a team that can attack opponents from all positions, but Utah had done enough to balance their roster out with the Cleveland trade. They had some support in case their two best players had an off night. Luckily for them they did not need that support at all in this series. The duo of Stockton and Malone dominated their matchups. Malone's stellar playoff run continued with another 40 point game and he held young stud Shawn Kemp in check as Kemp struggled through most this series posting career playoff low numbers. Stockton and Ehlo locked the sharpshooting backcourt of Sedale Threatt and Dale Ellis up for the majority of the series as well. For Seattle it was another close but no cigar ending, they have made the conference finals three years in a row now and have lost each time. For two of those years they had the best record in the West. Their championship window might be closing very soon. For the Jazz, a team that is familiar with playoff struggles, it was nice to see 2k make a trade that paid off in a really beneficial way as both Cleveland acquisitions ended up starting for them throughout this run and Malone and Stockton have already reached iconic duo status.

    H) THE PLAYOFFS (EAST) :

    First round:

Detroit and Chicago both ran through their opening matchups in 4 games making Charlotte's first playoff visit a quick one and leaving Atlanta as a team searching for direction as they have declined every year but aren't bad enough to be in the lottery yet. Chicago's win was not without a big loss however. Horace Grant tore a calf muscle and was ruled out for the playoffs.

The Knicks also made quick work of the Bullets, winning in 5.

Another aging team in the East, the Boston Celtics, were in deep trouble before the playoffs even started. They lost their only all star Kevin Mchale for the entire playoffs with a stress fracture. They surprisingly were able to split the first two games, but the loss of production was too much to overcome, especially when you have to match up with Charles Barkley. He had a 40-20 game in game 5 to take the lead. Then point guard Scottie Brooks hit the go ahead three with 4 seconds remaining in game 6 to put Philly in the next round.

    Conference semi-finals:

The second round was just like last year with Detroit and Chicago both sweeping. For the Knicks it was a taste of what this team needs to get to over the next few years. For the 76ers, it may have been the last time for this team with Charles Barkley in a 76er uniform. He is an upcoming free agent and may look to move on to a team that gives him a better chance to win similar to how he did in real life at this point. He is the best rated and best statistical player at his position but has not made a conference finals at this point in the sim and each year he has lost to a team that had more talent at the other positions. It should be an interesting summer.

    Conference Finals:

The two leading MVP candidates would face off in the conference finals this year. They had played each other for four years in a row now and in every playoffs in this sim. This year would be much more like the first series of the sim, a back and forth classic. The absence of Horace Grant was felt at the start of this series as the Pistons out rebounded the Bulls by almost 20 in game 1. In game 2 both MJ and Isiah had triple doubles and Sam Perkins went 8-9 as the Bulls evened the series. The teams split the next two in Chicago setting up an epic game 5 that delivered in every way. Isiah Thomas started hot scoring 12 of his teams first 14 and 17 points in the first quarter. He never cooled off and in the second half he made a play that people will be talking about for years. He took Jordan one on one on the wing faked to the middle and crossed back for the three so quick, Jordan went stumbling to the ground! Isiah splashed the three and the MVP seemed down for the count as the Pistons took game 6. The Bulls were down 12 at halftime of game 6, then Jordan, Harper, and Pippen took turns creating havoc on defense. They picked Isiah and Dumars pockets and jumped passing lanes for fast break dunks. They forced 10 second half turnovers and held the Pistons to the lowest scoring half of the series to force game 7. Game 7 was a blowout win for the Bulls as Jordan dropped another 40 point game and Scottie Pippen had 28 points. Isiah Thomas got off to a bad start and the Pistons were out of it by halftime. The Bulls made their third Finals in a row.

    I) THE NBA FINALS:

Chicago's third final appearance and third different opponent. I actually thought the Jazz would win the series with Horace Grant out. Nobody had stopped Malone yet and I doubted that Sam Perkins or Stacy King would be the ones to do it. In game 1, Malone had 32 points and the game was even through three quarters. Malone disappeared in the fourth quarter and only had 2 points. That gave the Bulls the opening they needed, and the championship experience of the Bulls took over as they turned miss after miss by the Jazz to fast break points. The game was capped off when late in the fourth Michael Jordan led a two on one break, but instead of passing to Pippen, he faked the pass and threw the ball off the backboard, jumped, grabbed the ball and twisted his body in one motion, then threw down a ferocious dunk! Game 2 was the same story as Jordan, Pippen, and Harper all scored over 20 and the Bulls put up a 40-point fourth quarter that turned a close contest into a blowout win. John Stockton had his hands full with being guarded by Ron Harper, he was a combine 5-23 in the first two games of the series. Game 3 was another blowout win for the Bulls, and while the Jazz rebounded to win game 3, the series was pretty much over at that point. The Bulls were up 27 entering the fourth quarter of game five and they cruised to an easy win to become back-to-back champs! Jordan won his second Finals MVP and it looks like we are in the Bulls era of dominance now.

    J) OFFSEASON & BUILD UP

    Retirements: Alex English

    RULE CHANGES:

1991 NBA DRAFT: Our first draft class with a franchise changer at the top, this is the Shaq draft. Shaq and Alonzo Mourning headline this draft class, every team at the bottom was hoping to end up with the first overall pick. It was the most exciting lottery of the draft so far as early on it was revealed that the Magic had made their way into the top 4. In the end it was the Miami Heat who walked away with the top pick, as it looked like their tanking strategy worked, but Orlando had the #2 pick and for a team with a good young roster, that could mean trouble for the East. The Heat drafted Shaq and the Magic drafted Alonzo Mourning. The Nuggets were the big movers of the night, not only did they draft Latrell Sprewell, but they also traded back into the first round with Houston to draft David Wesley. The Seattle Supersonics added PJ Brown late in the draft which might be the steal of the draft as he is already their highest rated center.

FREE AGENCY: There was only one big move and it was a huge one. Charles Barkley signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. In order to make the deal work the teams did a sign and trade that included 11 players. The deal sent Lakers hero James Worthy, Terrell Brandon, and AC Green to the 76ers. It was a blockbuster deal that now has the Lakers in a position to compete in the West again.

Just a little note here: This will be the last post for a couple of weeks. Normally it takes me a week to get through a year but I will be going out of town this weekend and I am also going to take time reworking tendencies for the players in this league. I want to keep the stats as realistic and close as possible to the time periods that I am in as I go along and I am starting to see stat lines and numbers that challenge that, so I will take this week to change up some stuff.
